[Well, this is...probably as good a place to ask as any. Not like he has a lot of other options to look through, and it's now happened enough times in the last week that he's pretty sure he's not just seeing things anymore. But after a few attempts at writing and rewriting he eventually decides to just cut to the chase and keep it simple:]
Has anyone here experienced having their eyes glow red at random brief intervals? If you don't but know somebody that has, that's relevant too. I know odd impossible things happening to eyes isn't actually very new here, but I haven't heard of anything exactly like this yet.
I'd like to find something to correlate with so I can figure out what this is.
[....And a couple minutes later, edited on:]
Recommendations on eyedrop brands that moisturize the most effectively would be welcome too.

The fact that most everyone here is mentioning lasers isn't helping this concern in the least.
no subject
anyway try a brand called Systane
they make good shit and have nighttime versions too
no subject
[wow aizawa don't be salty just because you think you might have it now...anyway--]
But Systane, is it? Duly noted then...thanks. Hadn't considered variations for night hours but honestly that probably would help quite a bit.
Then again I'll take just about anything at this point. The one bottle I have right now doesn't feel like it's doing anything for this at all
no subject
duly noted
putting you on the un-fun list
[It's okay Aizawa, be salty. Sanji's manning the asshole corner]
and yeah eyes can dry out a lot at night, it's not like ur drinking water to keep hydrated while ur sleeping
any little bit helps and all that shit
no subject
[With their powers combined they'll cover all these prickly bases yet...!]
That makes as much sense as anything else about this. Does staying more hydrated in general tend to help with dry eyes, in that case? During waking hours, anyway. I've never had this problem to this extent before, so I'm not actually familiar with any other remedies besides eyedrops...
no subject
if u bother to go
or are u the kind that bahumbugs it with a good book and a glass of wine? cause that sounds like a good time actually
and of course staying hydrated matters, our bodies are mostly water. everything we do dries em out, so try downing an extra glass or two of water
[...]
i mean, that'll work for normal eyes. can't say what'll happen for yours
no subject
Which is to say that there's some parties you have to attend whether you like it or not, yes. But I do prefer to avoid them when I can, so you're not wrong. It's a very tiring pastime.
Replace "books" with "grading" and that's also about right...minus the wine, which would unfortunately make said grading pretty difficult. But it's certainly tempting to have sometimes.
[Aaah don't remind him though.......]
That is the big question, isn't it? I guess this means I probably don't have normal eyes at all now. Wonderful. [uGH] I've been debating if I should even bother with an optometrist at this point. Not sure what they'd find, or if they'd even find anything at all. Trying to predict how people outside this app react to things really is a pain in itself...
no subject
i dunno, i think the wine would make that job easier
ur students might not like the results tho
and yeah i've found either everyone outside the app ignores u or thinks ur deranged. neither option's that fun long term
just try the water and eyedrops for now, see if there are any changes
maybe u can see through stuff now? or uh can hypnotize people
no subject
Hmmm. They already don't like the results when I'm the one doing the grading, generally. Probably couldn't get too much worse for them if I had a glass to take the edge of the headache off every now and then, it's true.
[What a stressful time it is when he's tired enough to actually be kind of serious about considering it too, at this point....ok no, focus Aizawa. It's very close to the end of term and winter break, now. Just need to hold out for a couple...more weeks.......]
That does seem to be the experience all around. It's still a bit jarring at times, if you ask me.
I guess there's always the doctors on this app, though I don't know if any of those specialize in eyes. Probably not. ...Might as well see how far water and eyedrops get first before I have to go harassing anybody else about this, at any rate.
[And so the postulating on possibly Stupid Superpowers continues--]
Isn't there someone a few posts down from this experiencing x-ray vision in some form, actually? [He vaguely remembers skimming over that one before posting his own, anyway.] I haven't seen anything quite like that during the glowing instances, so that's at least pretty unlikely. ...I don't like that hypnosis is still an open possibility, though. Thanks, now I'm going to have to actually seriously consider that for awhile.
no subject
and is there? i only check this app like once a day, barely read all the posts, there's too many of em
[Yeah, he's that casual about it. Easier to not give a shit if he's not keeping up on all the gossip.]
but hey, luck favors the prepared. if any of ur students suddenly vows to start studying seriously, you'll know whats up
no subject
[Yeah he's one of those teachers--but Aizawa has no qualms about embracing that. Again, it's a niche that somebody's gotta fill, and he's not going about it half-heartedly.]
Looks like it. That's fair, though...I don't keep up with this as much as some either. Not much of a social media person on the whole. This would be my first actual post on this app right here, and I was debating on doing that much.
[But the need for--some kind of feedback had ultimately overruled that automatic aversion to online chatting. Aizawa would never flatly admit as much, but it really is helping too...even if nobody else seems to have ever experienced quite the same thing, with this eye thing. Just talking about it, bouncing ideas around...
Even the more mildly unpleasant ideas, like this one--]
You joke but that's a genuinely unsettling prospect, now that I try to imagine it. I'd much rather they actually do it of their own volition any day. Maybe "hypnosis" as an ability has a lot of appeal to some people, but I can't really see it myself...if people wouldn't listen to me normally anyway then it seems pointless to try and force it. There's no progress in that at all, for either party.

[Even under his father's tutelage, Sanji couldn't stand the shit. Absolutely aced it, but mathematics is as dry as this guy's eye problem]
but yeah agreed on the effort part, and sometimes math comes in handy. makes giving out tips easier
and hey now i'm not saying it's a good skill set to have, just be ready for the worst outcome. invest in sunglasses or some shit if people start tripping over themselves in ur presence
actually that's something else to consider - sunlight. can irritate ur eyes too.
and wind, and dust, and everything.
[He is honest to god not even joking]
no subject
[Spoilers he also does legitimately get some enjoyment out of it--well, maybe more the "teaching a kid a thing" bits and less the "endless suffering" bits, but sometimes you have to get your entertainment where you can....
And look math is great?? It's just a lot of moving parts that link together! You can't get much more logical than mathematics, at least on the more fundamental level ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Aizawa you're literally the only person who thinks that tho math is the worst smh]Guess it's always worthwhile to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when the worst doesn't happen... [but jfc though--] Well. Maybe I've got a pair of sunglasses lying around in a drawer somewhere.
But I don't think I have goggles, if that's what you're implying I need to invest in.

[THANKS SANJI, YOU SURE ARE A PEACH. But no really, Aizawa is incredibly good at rolling with Sanji's asshole comments, meaning he's got no hook to be angry and can cruise straight into being surprisingly helpful.]
what i'm sayin is u got ur work cut out for u. the eyes are sensitive to begin with, which just complicates what works and what doesn't, get me? too many shitty variables to juggle
but a good pair of sunglasses is a good start
no subject
[It's true, fortunately for the both of them Aizawa is perpetually too tired to invest much energy into actually getting offended at the occasional asshole person to crop up in his life, much less when it's over text with some guy he's never met in his life anyway. His humor is dry enough to sustain things just fine without the wasted effort in getting angry--and so, well, here they are.
The true honor is getting such helpful advice in general from Sanji at this stage of things, probably, but alas Aizawa doesn't know it. Perhaps someday he'll understand...]
Too many shitty variables for certain. It'd be quite a lot easier to deal with all this if any of it followed some semblance of rationality. [will aizawa ever not hate how Incredibly Irrational literally all of Retrospec is (no, no he will not...)] But that seems about right. Considering the few facts we have on hand right now...might as well try what would normally work and collect the data on the results from there. I've not yet found any other frame of reference from anyone else with something similar to this, so I'm just going to have to start building my own, apparently.
[HE JUST KIND OF WISHES HE DIDN'T HAVE TO LIKE. DO IT WITH HIS OWN EYES ON THE LINE.....but Retrospec's always been rude like this. What else is new...]
Now I can't help but wonder, though. You sure you're not some sort of aspiring optometrist yourself? Or do you just happen to have an unusual amount of knowledge about eye sensitivity at your disposal?
no subject
no i just pick up a few things here and there [THAT ANSWERS NOTHING but eh, roll with it]
not like it's a guarantee any of it will help
worst case scenario is it does jack shit, but u gotta start somewhere
