Those of you that have received physical changes from Retrospec, how long did it take before they stopped seeming fundamentally wrong - do they ever, or am I just going to be handling being mentally inconvenienced every time I try to do anything that involves mirrors for the foreseeable future? I admit that I don't have much to complain about, in the scheme of things - especially since I'm not opposed to the results - but apparently I'm going to do so anyway, simply just because such is social media.

Then again, this particular identity crisis is brought to you by the realization that I haven't seen certain members of my family in two years, and if they were to see me now they wouldn't recognize me on immediate sight. So I think I have some right to be at least mildly distressed.

Oh, I don't think it'll be successful, because that's hardly the point.

I think it will be deeply obnoxious to deal with.

Odd things were done to my body, in terms of muscular structure. Before that, my eyes and hair were decidedly saner colors, which isn't much to complain about in the scheme of things but I'm fairly sure I'm within my rights to complain about them anyway.

Mostly cosmetic things, though some odd things have been done to my body as well.

Eye color changes are obnoxious to deal with, however; I wasn't particularly fond of having to explain any of that at work.

Are you also suddenly a lot more physically fit than you once were?

I believe that you're in your right to complain, too. It is something that happened that you did not want. Why wouldn't you be in your right to be upset? Indeed, there are changes that happen to others that seem far more drastic, but everyone is allowed to announce their displeasure about a situation. If they are judged for it, well, that's just how it is on social media, too. Is that not right?

I don't know if I would say I am attached to it. It just feels... more natural, somehow? Like this is the way it was supposed to be.

Well, as I said the change was minimal for me, only eye color. Are the changes very extreme for you?

They aren't, but at the same time it's not something I'm finding myself able to be comfortable with, either. Certainly not on that sort of level.

My lifelong obsession with the arts, perhaps. We both have a strong connection with aesthetic expression.

I suppose that's true. I'm surprised nobody's tried yet, considering how long this application's existed.

It's politics, in my case. It's not something that I made much of a connection to before, but I think that's the primary thing we had in common - a desire to excel politically.

I know it's been discussed from time to time, but there have been various hangups regarding actually bringing it to court.

Well, first of all, there's the matter of getting a judge that's even willing to hear the case in the first case, given that all of the allegations are largely difficult to prove in front of someone that isn't on the app. However, if they are on the app, we run into the problem of bias against the defendant, given that the judge will have been directly and personally affected regardless of whom they are.

So we run into the problem of either looking insane or facing obligatory recusal, depending on how things end up going.

I guess maybe mine haven't been the most drastic, and some other people have had the same sorts of things happen, but... I definitely don't spend as much time in front of the mirror as I used to.

I guess some people might consider that a good thing tho!

Public servitude. I never had much taste for it, myself, but it does seem we do find some way to connect with out other selves.
