[video stream] [backdated to a time when shit wasn't falling apart, aka august 13th-ish]
[ Tonight is a special treat for retrospec users: a livestream of a paranormal investigation! Some of you may recognize the voices of the two stars of the show, either from retrospec itself or perhaps you’ve watched their streams in the past… in either case, tonight’s stream is set in a darkly lit neighborhood on the outskirts of town… abandoned houses can be found in this area, some of which look more dilapidated than others. But not to worry! The charismatic cameraman can be heard as the feed continues, his trusty associate not far out of frame: ]
Welcome, friends! Tonight, we’re continuing our investigation of the most haunted areas of Recolle! As you can see, we’re en route to our next location: an abandoned house just outside of town! We’ve gotten reports that this particular structure is home to a few wayward souls…
[ The camera pans around, revealing stretches of unattended lawns and poorly managed streetlights. It’s a miracle any of them are lit at all. ] It’s pretty obvious we’re headed toward no man’s land! [ And the camera shifts back, focusing on Keigo’s face as he speaks. ] But not to worry! My trusted associate and I are well prepared to deal with the paranormal! [ The camera shifts abruptly to focus on Orihime. ] Isn’t that right, esteemed colleague?!
[ Orihime nods, her very serious game face on. ] We’ve met ghosts in the high school bathroom and even communicated with the spirit of a possum that was hit by a semi-truck on 66th and Wallingford back in the 1960s! But tonight we might be encountering the spirits of Mr. and Mrs. Holt. Something has apparently brought their souls back from the other side…
[ There should be some incidental music playing. But since there isn’t, Orihime makes her own low “oooOOoooo” noises. ]
[ but then, in the distance, there is a honk. ]
[ Keigo was ready to elaborate off of Orihime’s impromptu sound effects, but that interjecting honk certainly was not something he had accounted for. There’s a significant pause, complete with Keigo stopping in his tracks to look around. He doesn’t sound frightened, per se, but the uncertainty is clear enough in his voice: ]
What the hell was that?
[ Orihime gasps! And whirls around towards the house. ]
Keigo, I think we’ve made contact!
[ She quickly waves him over, wasting no time in hurrying towards the sound. Because that’s what Ghost Hunters do, you know--run into danger. ]
[ another honk, and another, all separated to form an eerie squeeze of bicycle horns in the distance— a very short distance, because those honks seem to be coming closer. a silence stretches for a good few minutes until the honk happens again, this time out in the open for the camera to catch. with a whirl, they’ll see it: a clown, standing just under faulty lighting.
he’s just standing there, and gives them a slow wave. ]
[ Orihime gives another gasp, and not just for dramatic effect. She turns slowly to the camera. ]
...It’s not the ghost of Mr. and Mrs. Holt! It’s a misplaced circus clown come to visit us from the other side!
[ It’s actually way creepier at this distance. ]
[ there’s . . . something on the ground, what is that? a pile? the darkness skewers whatever it is, but it looks like a fairly suspiciously shaped pile. a person shaped pile. from thin air the clown seems to summon a hammer, colorful and comedic, hoisting it over his shoulder and looking between the two, and the pile. the two, and the pile. putting a finger over his mouth for them to be quiet, he then raises the hammer high and slams it down onto the pile’s head.
a reddish goop flies everywhere, it hits the walls and it dirties the clown, and now— it’s coming right for them with a nightmare laugh. ]
Shit!
[ whether the stunt actually scared Keigo because he believed it or because it was so sudden… it’s not clear. The camera shakes regardless, and Keigo’s first instinct is, of course, to run. ]
That’s not a ghost! That’s some kinda maniac!
[ Where is Keigo getting his intel? Well, his own sixth sense, mostly, but also there’s a strangely familiar feeling he’s getting from this resident menace. ]
Orihime!
[ Oh… he probably should have made sure she was following him. The camera whips around a few times, the killer clown still closing in at an alarming pace! ]
[ Orihime is totally not following him, but not for the reason he might suspect. ]
Wait...I know this maniac ghost!
[ Shock and terror! Orihime waves her arms wildly. ]
Gamzee!?
[ and then the clown killed them???
no just kidding, he bops orihime lightly on the head with the hammer. there is jelly all over it. jelly all over him in fact, and he lifts his clown mask to reveal
more clown paint, but whatever. ]
‘Sup, hermanos?
[ Well that was… stressful. And also anti-climatic, in the end. Keigo stops abruptly, the camera shakes, and he points it directly at Gamzee. This guy… ]
You’re that weirdo from Tanabata! What the hell are you doin’ here? You’re ruining our stream! And you got … stuff all over Orihime!!
[ Someone’s a bit salty. ]
We came here to find a ghost and we found Gamzee instead. That means--
[ GASP! ]
You died!?
[ She looks down at herself. ]
...Ectoplasm! Keigo, get the containers!!
[ ooc; this post is gonna be treated like a livestream! everyone can chime in via a "chat" feature, and our brave hosts (orihime and keigo) and their ghost discovery (gamzee) will respond! feel free to try and scare them or shitpost as per usual. ]
