If it were simple reincarnation, maybe I'd be more accepting of this. That we remember their lives, but that their lives don't have a chance of taking us over.

That's the question it always comes back to, isn't it? At the end of this, will we still exist? Our own memories aren't being lost, but our bodies are.


[Oh. Except Togusa forgot something.]

Except. I can cut down my own theory, because I've got proof now that there aren't physical brain changes happening to us. No physical evidence that we're getting double the memories.
