Happy New Years, users. I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps. As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think? The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. Hitori Togusa Pesgare. Shinji helped us out a lot. But it was complicated.
Hitori Togusa This guy Hawthrone was trying to fraudulently buy the town out, yeah. On the surface, it looked like he was just going to turn it into a resort town, which would have been bad enough! I love Pesgare.

Hitori Togusa But when we looked deeper, he was interested in the area because it was supposedly one of the four original areas, possibly having to do with the Founders. And he was looking for a source of magical energy. Buying the town would have let him search for it without any hassle.

Hitori Togusa It's not quite a seeing-into-the-future prediction. Closer to a message from the ancestors and the ancestors of the land that something they've seen before might come to pass again. Seeing a pattern of the past to predict an outcome.
Hitori Togusa In a way, it feels like what Retrospec is trying to tell us is going on. Almost in reverse though.

if it's tied to an item they use then yeah you can handcuff them, just take the reality changing thing away from them
but if it's a power that THEY have like inside of them then

While normally I'm one of those encouraging everyone to keep their heads and not run screaming into the night fearing whatever impending calamity is surely about to hit us all in the face, I think by now we can all skip that little formality. Those that are going to scream will scream.

You know, I'm guessing that we're supposed to assume whatever changes this Vanderweele fellow is enacting are, in the long run, worse than anything you've managed to pull on us thus far. Do we have any information on what it is that he's doing and why, or are we just going in blind here?

If Retrospec is looking into already active magical sources, then probably not. I don't know myself if they keep a record of what abilities or powers other people had in their other lives... if they did, there'd probably be less problems.

If it helps, I know that it takes some time for this stuff to return. Someone I know... she used to have magic herself, but she lost the app and she still hasn't gotten it back even though she's on it again.
