You can't convince people without the app that anything is weird even if there's monsters roaming the streets, and you shouldn't try.
Sometimes there are monsters roaming the streets. Picking up some basic self-defense is a good idea.
The unreality weirdness usually, but not always, rotates on a vaguely monthly schedule.
