retrospec | (no subject)

Three options for you.

1.) We test the timelines based on the ideas of people who went backwards and checked into things. You know who you are. Like I said before, we have three tries to check to try and improve the situation.

2.) We just charge straight ahead and hope for the best.

3.) We actually come up with a plan with volunteer basis, split you guys into groups, and proceed from there.

As I've mentioned, Mr. Murdock raised a proposition of having volunteers for the Retrospec project to prove themselves to Vanderweele and get him to back off the project. Mr. Togusa changed the contract in the past that Retrospec will go public, more or less, when the first world has reached full completion. Ms...Anna (Anna it's too weird to call you by something proper) has volunteered herself to jump forward to a degree where she's regained her abilities, powers, and strength.

So if you see double, don't be alarmed.

Here's the thing. No matter what path we take, it's always been the same. The end has always been about stopping Vanderweele's influence over the city and shutting down his power. While there are a lot of ways we can do that, it's always been that ultimate goal to get the city back to what it was. Release people memories. Adjust everything. All that. The pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place to give us a clue of what we're supposed to do here.

Under the ocean there's a base in a trench hidden away. The further you go, the less the water appears. It's displaced, but the pressure of the ocean itself might kill you before you get down there unless we loosen the binds.

We have two objectives here: destroy the eye that's feeding his defenses in the city, and destroy the base in the ocean to siphon his power out and stop what's been started.

Pick a side. Once you know your strengths and weaknesses, we'll have a better sense of how to attack and take him by surprise.

Got it?

Fixing the city? That's "finishing" its regrowth. And taking away his power means sending memories and energy back to where it belongs.

This is going to be the last thing I'll ask of you guys. So...think on that.

Look, I know I'm going into the least charted territory there's ever been. If I fuck it up, I want it on my shoulders. I'm not trying to call dibs, I just want to make sure that this won't make it worse. Same as with the sixth layer shit.

Aren't you stopping yourself now by thinking about it? I wouldn't worry about your future self... Current you didn't get involved with past you, so logic follows that future you wouldn't bother current/past you.

But future me's already seen how this plays out. She already knows that I'm gonna come in from present day and ask her for help. so if I (future me) don't help her (now me), I fuck up the timeline.

How? Did (current) you know about going back to the past last month? You'd think past you wouldn't have... You know. Ended up where she did, because you would have already known and could have fixed it.

You mean I might not stay here or go there, just... not be anywhere?

Whoa. That sounds like it might be really cool, but probably just cause a bunch of problems.

Listen. I don't know shit about time. I think that much is obvious by now. I don't have a plan and I have no clue how this is gonna play out. But I'm doing it anyway.

My guess is before we go after the giant eye and the underwater base. Though with the whole time travel thing, 'when' is sort of anytime.

They're even pointier than the last time you saw them. I got an upgrade thanks to last month.

Nice. That thing is probably real weak to getting dive bombed. But, I mean, you fight like you do and everything's weak to getting dive bombed.

I don't entirely know. Zee was.. frustratingly vague, let's say. With his explanation. But when Zee gives the callout for volunteers? I'm pretty sure you'll know.

There's the problem. I don't entirely know. Zee has grabbed a page from Retrospec's playbook and started being frustratingly vague. So whoever does offer themselves up for this? I just want them to be mentally prepared for any possibility.

I don't think you'll be in too much harm, honestly. I'm just not a good choice because I am the one trying to go against what Retrospec initially intended.

I know...just trying to get better at not shutting everyone out.

Okay, cards on the table I'm just googling him now, I sort of remember A rock and roll song that sort of sounds like him.

I think it was Rainbow in the Dark that I listened to a couple of times and went "Ah, so that's the guy who died, neat" sort of deal.

You kinda are calling "dibs" though in this case, there aren't many people stepping up to the place. But it is probably better to try and toss one stone in and see how many ripples it makes in stead of a bunch of stones at the same time.

Well... yeah. Somehow my other self's son got stuck in the past somehow, so he had to go save his son.

That is the general order I am thinking also. Though concerning time travel and "when", yeah, we need to decide that soon.

James has always been a soul screaming at the world for someone to just listen. The worst thing Retrospec did to him wasn't take his arm, it wasn't to put him in prison, wipe his mind to make him a puppet, it wasn't even killing him. It was make no one believe him.

To be heard, after all this time, will bring peace to more people than you'd expect.

Malik says he's just after the payday, but I think he'll be happier from it, too.

As for Vanderweele, you know I have to do everything I can to bring him in alive.

I know how that feels like, I'm worried that like me, the wrong people will hear it and make things worse.

I didn't mean to imply that I ACTUALLY want to kill him. I meant, even if Vanderweele is gone and the company comes back, there are still problems to be dealt with that we can't really do much about.

The law, or whatever you guys wanna do after, I won't actively get in your way, but I'm not really putting my eggs in that basket either, if there is something I can do to help, sure, why not, I don't exactly have a better idea.

If I have to, I'll take him down. But there is a chance we can get more out of him alive, so, on that we agree.
