Been a while since I asked a vague personal question on the network! Probably because I lost network access for a while there, but still. I'm overdue.

So, quick summary, past me was Bad and I do not want to be like him. He also was older than me at the end of his life, and he had kids. He was not a great dad. Not like an abusive parent or anything, and I think he loved them as much as he was capable, but that's not very much.

What does it say that I'm thinking more lately about whether I want kids someday? Now that I have this example of 'me' messing it up?

It's not your fault. No one wanted to forget. I mean, except the people who actually legit asked to forget after the whole thing was over, but you know...

Forgetting after the fact is different from forgetting while the situation's still going and people need help.

Yeah. I feel like that, too, a lot of the time. Even though there were times I wanted to give up.

Shockingly, being able to access the rest of the world improves sales.

I kind of figured. I hope it's doing really well, after how hard you were working.

It's done well enough that I can shower my friends in gifts, which is the most important thing.

Hey, keep some for yourself. You still have to eat, right?

Sure, but I don't have to splurge on myself. And it makes me happy to spoil my loved ones.

I fail to see how that contradicts what I just said.

I guess not. It's hard to think of yourself sometimes.

But you could forget about my birthday. I have a hard time keeping track of that kind of thing.

We are, but that doesn't magically make me better at remembering dates.

It does mean I should put some effort into doing stuff for you.

I forget so many birthdays, Lina. If I didn't have social media I'm not sure I would remember my own birthday.

Don't you have, like, reminders or a calendar or something?

Social media is my reminders. My calendar is for appointments, mostly.
