yeah, i think it is
although
it seems like it's the same sort of thing as when horses were replaced by chocobos, right?
what if there was someone else before all of this started that remembered what chocobos were, and that's triggered that first shift?
[Is there a "patient zero" out there somewhere they should be looking for???]
