I'm no expert on memory, but, fun question: do we know anybody who is?
I'm looking back over some of my school notes, and did we do this in your class or somebody else's? There's a discussion of supposed false memory implantation in witnesses. You can get them to state things that they originally believed were not true if you ask enough leading questions, especially if you're coming from a place of authority. Children witnesses are especially susceptible. They just start agreeing with you after a while.
That specific model isn't exactly what we're seeing here. Everybody's pretty confident that what they're seeing is true, even if it seems impossible?
