So here's a question for people, since I didn't get to talk to a lot of people when I suddenly got a prompt from an app I never downloaded telling me to be more interesting-- what, exactly, were you doing when you first noticed you had a new app? Had you just witnessed anything strange?

This still feels a little surreal to me. If I hadn't spent several days smaller than a remote, I'd be wondering if someone was pulling an extended practical joke on me.

How long has this been going on, exactly? Because it's strange to think there was so much going on I never noticed before.

I also broke my phone but the app still installed itself on the new one.

In all seriousness, what were you doing? I was talking to a lady on the street when the app showed up on my phone. It showed up on hers, too.

A guy told me he bought a completely new phone and it showed up on that one, too.

That's more or less what happened to me, too.

It seems to be tied to certain people and not the phones themselves. I don't know how or why, so don't ask.

I was talking selfies at the time and when I closed the app to speak with my parents, it was already there.

It was perfectly normal until its arrival. [ and that's when everything started to fall apart, in her opinion. ]

Slacking off at work, to be honest. Searching twitter and shit, then it just showed up

A parishioner showed the app to me on her phone shortly before Founder's Day, but I did not notice it on any device I used until the first full week of Lent. Which was, not so incidentally I believe, immediately after I remembered the existence of horses.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think you're right on that; I haven't bothered to change my number, but these people knew my name without needing me to do anything at all to the profile.

It's creepy, to say the least.

So so far, it sounds like the general consensus is "minding our own business, and then a mysterious app shows up on our phones."

Whoever this Jim guy is, it sounds like he's pretty well connected.

Oh, they know a lot more than just your name. The little details seem to vary, however.

Soon enough they'll be sending you presents in the mail.

Something dramatic happened to you after the app showed up?

I've heard a little bit about weird things happening, but I haven't experienced anything like that so far.

For the record, though, I believe you. There's a guy I know-- we're not particularly close or anything, but he's not the sort to joke around, and he was also telling me about suddenly remembering things.

I've already gotten plenty of "last known photograph" shots of me from the app.

i just woke up and looked at my phone and there it was

i tried to show my mom and she said my screen was blank
it was really weird and i thought there was something wrong until i started talking to other people
its still weird lol but at least im not alone

I have a long list of that could qualify as that. Would you like to hear about my possible forgotten marriage or the fact I know sparkle every time I'm too happy.

As it should, but it's not like they've mailed anything dangerous. Not yet.

I received them as well. Pretty much everyone did. They're keeping tabs on us for whatever reason, but even before the photos surfaced, they were privy to private information. The presents almost seem mocking, in that context. Whatever they send has a sense of... familiarity about it, even if it's something you've never seen before.

Grading papers. I noticed it at 1 AM, but there were others who noticed it before me.

As far as I know, this has been going on for some months.
