retrospec | (no subject)

hey, it's alison. long time reader, first time poster, etc.
everyone else gets pointy teeth and anime hair, and all i get is this rudimentary bow and arrow set. in the back seat of my car. i feel cheated and uneasy.
things of note:
the construction's solid if old-fashioned. ancient almost. looks like it's been through a lot of hunting or combat. well-cared for. it's been restringed recently. funny: the bowstring's stronger than any modern-day bow i've ever held. tbf, last time i tried to shoot a bow and arrow was in summer camp, and that was a disaster. i couldn't hit the broad side of a barn...
the metal pieces are strong too.
same metal pieces have been shaped for the arrow heads. dried blood still on one of those. spooky. weird thing about the design. the metal's been shaped and painted(?) in a way to resemble animal bone. does that make sense? as if it was deliberate. they don't match with the construction of the thing, but i don't know why.
just a feeling.
has anyone ever seen these symbols? did anyone else get some ancient weapon, or did i luck out?

a little bit. a lot of care was put into the construction, nonetheless. at least from what i've seen looking over it.
i don't know. it's meant to be functional, so it isn't just a display piece. that's all i've got so far.

i cant really defend myself like everyone else

for now, the worst thing we have to defend ourselves against is giant bugs again. hopefully.
i don't know how well i can defend myself with this, anyway. i can't shoot it.

im guessing ur car was locked yea?

it's not holding it incorrectly that worries me.
it's the recoil making me slap myself in the face, or shooting something i didn't mean to.

and yeah. it was locked. no sign of forced entry.
the bow was just...there. arrows and all. came with a belt that seems to fit me.

most of what they do is illegal. this app alone is a huge invasion of privacy. if the laws of physics don't apply, why would any other law?

i'm spooked but not surprised. they managed to take candid photos of everyone a month or so ago. breaking into my car would be child's play.

i guess it just seems creepier 2 me when its like on a personal level u know?
so much of what they do messes with us together but like singling out ur car?

aw. i thought hallucinomemory was kind of catchy.
and that's what i've been told. it's incredible to me that a memory might trigger some latent archery ability, but at this point i guess i can't be shocked.

yeah, thinking of it that way, it is much creepier. there's that mental image i didn't want, right on time.

according to some of the others, i might just pick up the skill through a weird flashback. it takes years to master a weapon like this. i feel like i'm cheating on a test.

Oh absolutely.

I got a memory of being kidnapped by a lizard-man. Someone else I know got one of a monster coming down from the sky all flying kaiju-style.

Mismatched in what way? It's hard to get a sense of the composition from over Retrospec, if I'm being honest.

i tried to explain it above.
the metallic pieces too advanced compared to the majority of its weapon, which is wood. sturdy wood, but wood.
the string is wire too.
and the pieces of metal have been shaped and painted deliberately to resemble the bones of an animal.
