yo. looks like there's still some residual effects coming up, but they should be pretty harmless since the kid was in charge of redistribution. she says it should be "cool". just don't do some damn idiot thing about them and you should be fine.

this is absolutely not in my job description but the intern's busy and half of r&d is still banned and hr is on honeymoon. so you'll just have to deal with the lack of fancy bullshit.

anyway. good luck or whatever.

As of this post, normal lemons now exist alongside the dancing variety!

As a reminder, a thread from this post with at least five consecutive comments from you is this month's qualification for a free regain!

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. New characters will find that the first image they put as their userpic is locked in for the month, though it will be able to be changed in October.

If the color has started to come back it must be on its way just like horses and fruit that isn't creepy. That's what I like to believe at least.
It's sad to hear a color has gone missing, especially blue. I don't need to see to know the sky isn't the same without it.

Yes. I heard a little about an underwater shipwreck, a jungle with an alien race, and some people out among the stars. Are those the stories you heard?

i am still a little weirded out by the fruit now that i know that this should not be a real thing i am witnessing. there are four kinds that are dancing and that is four kinds too many. i'm still puzzled about the horses thing, too, which doesn't help.
the grass looks different, too. color shouldn't mean everything but it is almost depressing to look at.

actually i haven't heard about any of those, but i heard about a swamp and a haunted mansion. i am guessing that is also in-line with the stories you've heard though. all people who left the city for a while.

While we're on the subject, are there any other missing colors?

[ In case taking away blue wasn't sad enough. ]

It sounds like they all went to some very memorable places. Haunted mansion- I didn't expect that one.

[ Ghosts might be real and at the rate things are going you know what? He's okay with that.
There are worse things.

green seems to be gone, too. there are some blues and greens in a handful of things? but not everywhere. not the places you would expect.
and yeah, exactly? i am still hearing all of the stories and maybe it's the wrong way to take it, but i am sort of jealous. an adventure sounds pretty cool.

The way color is returning sounds even stranger than the way it disappeared. That does sound promising as long as they begin to appear in more places.

An adventure within reason does sound fun. It's unfortunate that these are our circumstances. Nobody should be dragged into it against their will.

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-06 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
it is, isn't it? from what i understand all of the blue and green disappeared right away but now it is like it is being siphoned in piece by piece which should not seem possible given how color and light WORKS.
but then again it does not seem like retrospec wants to play by normal rules.
do you think maybe something else happened that all of us accidentally gave them permission to do this somehow? i have a hard time believing hundreds of people were dragged in without consent.

It sounds like it's more likely everyone's eyesight has been affected rather than the wavelength of light being being wiped from existence and only put back when it shines on certain objects. Or that would be the simpler way to do it. Who can say if any of this was done the logical way?

That's the thing about consent. You can't 'accidentally' give it away. But you're right that we could have been tricked into giving them something that they would claim was proof of our permission if they were confronted and charged for what they've done.

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-08 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
as much as i think a lot of people want a logical answer i am not sure we are getting one. especially since i remember not thinking the lack of blue and green was weird. so how would something like that be explained?

it seems like a stretch to say that happened to all of us, but it seems like only groups of people at a time are brought in. maybe everybody clicked a spam banner on the internet or something, it seems hard to say. but the variety of people on this thing is what makes it even weirder.

I can't think of an opportunity when they could have collected my supposed agreement. I don't really browse the internet. A live signature perhaps? From a receipt at a store for example? Something everyone would typically sign without a second thought.

This might not have a logical explanation either. And with the power they have they might not be afraid of the law.
windeity: (LISTLESS ♫ goofing off)

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-08 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
that is a possibility but a lot of stores require electronic signatures now, too. maybe that's how they did it? like they are in cahoots with this company and have moles planted all over the city in some big social media conspiracy.

it is possible they aren't afraid of the law though. it would make it hard for the law to catch them if the law is unaware they exist, wouldn't it?
blessmefather: (sometimes)

[personal profile] blessmefather 2017-09-09 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's a pretty good idea for collecting signatures. We'll see if it becomes relevant later.

The highest official of the law I know of who has Retrospec is a judge. This kind of threat would be better replied to with the police force or another law enforcement agency though. We'd need a high ranking leader like the mayor or police commissioner on our side.
windeity: (BORED ♫ ugh I don't care)

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-11 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
all of that sounds like a great idea if we had any idea how to bring this thing to the attention of the commissioner or the mayor, but if they're picking people at random to add to the network there is a good chance they're avoiding high-ranking law enforcement on purpose.

so basically what i am saying is...this sucks.

[ Matt laughs and grins as he has his phone record his reply. ]

It really does. It should be said for the official court record that this undoubtedly sucks like very few things in this world suck, and I state that in my most professional opinion.

believe me, i think most of us would be more than happy to take the utmost professional opinion.

i'm john, by the way. i know your profile says your name is matt but it felt weird not introducing myself if we're both stuck with this thing.

Nice to meet you John. I'm Matt Murdock. I work as one of the city's assistant district attorneys.

What do you do? Are you a student?
windeity: (CALM ♫ heh)

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-15 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
a da? jeez, they really DID nab everybody on this app. sorry. i mean about the app, not your job. (though maybe your job? being an attorney sounds kind of complicated.)

and yeah! i just moved here a few weeks ago to start at the university so i guess that counts as being a student? classes haven't started yet but suddenly this seems a little more important than that.

[personal profile] blessmefather 2017-09-16 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
A job about rules has a lot of rules. So. Yes. It's complicated.

Sorry this has become your Recolle City experience. I've lived here my entire life save for college and it's typically a lot less chaotic, dangerous, and soul sucking? Definitely better at respecting people's privacy and choices.

What are you studying at university?
windeity: (GRIN ♫ eheh yeah)

[personal profile] windeity 2017-09-18 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
all the more reason i can respect that and also respectfully say i would never do it myself.

i think it's actually kind of cool? i left seattle for a reason and now this is even better than i expected even if i am not entirely sure what's coming next. i like the idea behind it all. like a new adventure, sort of.

and...biology, currently. subject to change but it sounded good on paper.

I've had a lot of talks with others about the app and what to expect. Some of it really can be amusing but there's also a lot of danger involved. Just be sure to keep in mind that others have been injured and hurt emotionally. Caution is warranted. As well as asking for help when you need it.

[ He doesn't like raining on anyone's parade but he'll say what's necessary for safety. ]

no i know. this app and the memories and stuff people are getting back are probably not easy on everyone.
i get that it is something to handle with tact, but i know my own limits, too. so i want to know everything i can if people will let me.

[He's also skipping the "asking for help" part because haha nah.]

but yeah. i have time. one of these things will be easier to solve than the other, but i am not sure which it is yet.
thanks, matt. i'll keep that in mind, too.

Good luck with classes.
