Now that's a question that's beyond me. From the data I've been able to compile so far, it seems that the selection is completely random. With you and others, they've targeted people new to the city; and with myself and others, they've targeted people who have lived their whole lives in the city.

If there's a connection, I've yet to find one. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm not searching. For now, however, the evidence seems to select purely random selection.

You'd almost hope it was something more significant. Like something you might see in a movie -- a shared tragic event in our collective pasts for example.

That may sound entertaining in a hypothetical sense,
but I tend to prefer my life to be tragedy-free.

And of course, this is all just based on what information we is currently available. It's still possible that there is some connection that remains to be discovered. But I wouldn't hold my breath about our lives becoming a poorly written movie.

It's excused. It wasn't so bad to bring it up to begin with. We have to examine every possibility before we disqualify them, and it also reminded me of several anime series that handled the trope well, but that is an unrelated matter.

I approve of the idea of figuring out how to best work together. Teamwork can be invaluable during times of strife! This may prove to be quite the opportunity to put my leadership skills to the test.
