I am not a color expert by any means, but how does the sky not have a color abruptly?

if i had an answer i would tell you! but i am still trying to figure that out myself. it is not the kind of gray like when it's going to rain, the sun is still out and everything as far as i can tell. it just looks. really dull.

[He doesn't grasp colors very well anymore, but equating it with a cloudy day versus none actually helps. He can sense when the sun is shining versus when it's cloudy.]

yeah, actually. that is not a bad way to put it.
everything is washed out and muted because the biggest factors (sky, grass, ocean) are missing.
like not literally missing, the ocean is back now from what i heard.
