Hello Retrospec! Last week on Joanne’s network post, me and my ReVA coworker Terra Mason challenged each other to see who could get the most virtual candies. We finally had the time to sit down and count, and here are the results! The winner, by one single treat... ...is Terra, with 37 virtual candies! Congratulations, Terra! [ Daisuke arrives over at the Confectionary around 1 PM as said by the post. He hopes he isn't too early and peeks into the store. ]

[Minako is still setting up her cupcake stand, so yes, he's a little early...but hey, look at all the nice pink in the store, and also wow, her uniform is so pink and frilly?]

Oh, hello Daisuke! You surprised me there.

[ Even though he wasn't, but he means just being too quiet in general. He looks a Minako for a bit and wow that uniform... is so frilly....... ]

Do you need help setting up the stand? I can help out. It's better than me not doing anything, so...

[The Confectionary is infamous for this uniform, please be appalled at the boss' choice in clothes.]

Oh, are you sure? If you have the time, then I'd really appreciate it.

[She brings over one of the trays of cupcakes. All of them have little toothpick flags stuck into them, listing the name of the recipient and the type of cupcake it is.]

Can you sort them by alphabet for the person getting them?

Sure!

[ He looks over at the trays of cupcakes and the names written on each of them. He's careful in putting the cupcakes on the table, neatly in alphabetical order so that nothing comes out of place. Daisuke seems to be focused on this kind of thing, quietly putting every cupcake in order efficiently.

It's like he's zoned out everything else out of his vision. ]

[Oh, she wasn't expecting him to get so into it.

So she's just kind of. Standing there holding his cupcake on a tray, blinking at his intensity for a minute.]




I found yours, by the way.

[ As if intensely pinged by food, Daisuke's head perks up, tearing his attention away from organizing the cupcakes. He's almost done, but Minako's call takes priority! ]

--Ah, um...

[ He's embarrassed because he's now self aware of what he's been doing. Oops. ]

[Minako loves being organized and prepared?? She gives him a little grin.]

[ He takes the cupcake and looks down at it. It looks... so good... It looks well made too, so he wonders if it would be a shame to eat it. But cupcakes are baked and meant to be eaten, so he takes a small bite out of it.

After swallowing: ]

I think it's the best cupcake I've ever had...

[She laughs and gives him a bright smile.]

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I wish I could give you another one, honestly. You organized all these cupcakes really well...

[ A part of him wants to say yes, but a part of him doesn't want to trouble Minako for an extra cupcake. He's not sure if this is even legal...?! ]

It's the least I could do! Since you made all those cupcakes for everyone... you're a really hard worker.

Haha, so I'm told! I don't normally go through this much effort for a competition, though. Next time I'll have to offer something different for a bribe.

But if you offer something else next time, wouldn't that have to be better than cupcakes? It's that "prizes have to be better than the last" to give... incentive? Is that the right word for it?

[A deep sigh.]

Yeah, it's true, but it would seriously drain my wallet if I offered something better than cupcakes next time...

What about something that isn't like... material? But then you'd have a bunch of favors.

[ He quietly munches on his cupcake while thinking. ]

... Maybe it's a bad idea after all.

Hehe, I'll come up with something! As long as we don't have these competitions every month I should be able to handle making cupcakes for people like I did this time.

That means you have to be strong to resist the urges if someone suggests another competition to you, right?

[ He gives a small awkward laugh. ]

But thanks for the cupcake! It's really delicious... I'll come back here if I want to eat cupcakes again.
