Hello Retrospec! Last week on Joanne’s network post, me and my ReVA coworker Terra Mason challenged each other to see who could get the most virtual candies. We finally had the time to sit down and count, and here are the results! The winner, by one single treat... ...is Terra, with 37 virtual candies! Congratulations, Terra! No, but Terra would have you believe otherwise, the way he tends to go on. There! [She dusts off her hands once her sign "Team Arisato Cupcakes!" is set up, and then trots back behind the counter to retrieve her first tray of cupcakes.]

Apple cinnamon, right? I remember now Mafuyu said something about you liking apple candies.

Fuyu did? I mean, she ain't wrong. Apple-flavored anything is best.

[ HE WILL REACH OUT FOR ONE whenever he recognizes apple cinnamon or she hands it over. ]

[All of the cupcakes have little toothpick flags stuck into them with names and cupcake flavor, so start searching, Dave! Because honestly she doesn't remember which tray she put his on anyways...]

Oh? Do you have a favorite apple dessert, then? I need inspiration for baking other things after all these cupcakes.

Apple tarts, maybe?

[ he's going to start reading the little flags one by one... ]

They're like mini apple pies.

Oh, you mean--

[She hops behind the counter and brings out a bakery box with a middling sized apple rose tart in it.]

Like this? My friend Tarr came by earlier to drop this off for me.

I mean, yes, like that. You should definitely try it? They're really good.

[complementing]

Want to try a slice with me?

[She's already wandering off back behind the counter to look for a knife. It's clearly break time now.]

Are you sure you're willing to share???

[ THE GODS-BLESSED SNACK ]

It's volleyball season, I shouldn't eat this whole thing by myself even though I can.

[She neatly slices it into eighths, and then sticks one onto a plate for him.]

In that case, I'm gonna say this is helping you out and agree to it.

[ he grins, and accepts the eighth. ]

...Thanks, Mina. I really do like apple baked goods?

Hehe, consider it noted for the future! But don't thank me until you've tasted it-- though Tarr is a really good baker as far as I can tell, I'm sure it's delicious.

[She hands him a fork, and then sticks her own into her slice, popping the bite into her mouth.]

Mmmm. I really need to get the recipe from him.

[ he'll take the fork and take his own tiny bite? ]

Holy shit, get it for me, too? I'm not a terrible baker and I will die to learn to make this.

[She laugh-snorts.]

Don't die for a dessert, not when you could probably buy it at his bakery. But yes, I can definitely forward you the recipe. [She points her fork at him.] On one condition! That you let me taste test it when you finally make it.

What's his bakery, by the way? I must not have seen it. And yes, I will let you taste it. As long as you promise not to laugh if it looks funky...I'm not good at the like, carefully crafted artistic looking sweets. But the flavor works generally.

It's called A Sweet Bonjour. Lots of European style cakes.

[She sticks another bite into her mouth, doing her best to savor it while still looking attentive to the conversation. She's not going to be able to eat another sweet until next week!]

As long as it tastes good, that's all that matters! Oh, and here.

[She plucks the actual cupcake he'd come for off of the tray for him and sets it next to his slice of the apple tart.]

[She laughs.]

What can I say, I like giving people a reason to smile.

Probably we could use a little more of that these days. People are kiiiiind of a little stressed, and for good reason?

Yeah. [A little sigh. But!] Arisato Kitchens will always be around to protect people's smiles, though, so look forward to me and Terra's next competition!

You should have a bake-off sometime?

Oh no, it wouldn't be fair. I'd absolutely crush him.

He can't cook?

I think he can manage cooking. But if it's baking, then there's no contest at all.
