Oh, certainly not! There's plenty of things to compare them to, actually, all quite kind. The moon's light as it dances across the sea... warm and gentle as the dying embers in a pile of charcoal... Stone itself isn't lifeless either. It's ever changing, allowing the earth to carve its own path through it, and therefore houses much more life than one could imagine; in addition to that, I quite like the way such eyes appear like molten silver when the light strikes them right. In that sense, your current predicament is actually favorable! They're my personal favorites, after all. I'm certain there's others who feel the same.
