It's Christmas in Recolle...

After some recent changes I've had to go through yesterday, I think I could use a small distraction. So I've decided to come to all of you in order to present a curiosity of mine.

What are some of your favorite Christmas and holiday traditions? After all, I would like to include those of you who perhaps don't celebrate Christmas.

There are so many of these traditions to speak of that I'm sure that everyone has a preference towards something in particular. I know I have a fondness for all of the lights that I've been watching appear throughout the season.

we should try to include this tradition in more holidays

I'm still not overly familiar with Thanksgiving honestly.
It is an American holiday and I'm not actually from this country.

thanksgiving's the holiday where we give thanks to the pilgrims for bringing us may flowers from europe - you know, like 'april showers bring may flowers'

you eat a lot of turkey but no one really gives you anything

What is it you want for Christmas this year? I'm curious.

I technically don't celebrate Christmas. But I do go to visit the shrine, and I used to go on dates with my ex, or visit with her family, or hang out with friends who were not busy, or paint. But the lights are beautiful, particularly when it's snows.

That does sound like a wonderful time. May I ask where are from? I admit that I'm curious.

It is, and I enjoy it. And I'm from Japan.

You know, I've always wondered what Japan is like.
One day I will have to go there to visit.

I enjoy Christmas trees with lights and ornaments. Especially ones with unique texture or shapes that are fun for me to guess.

I'm blind, so I'd have to guess if I couldn't already tell by feel what the ornaments were.

I was not aware. I could understand why you would enjoy that experience though.

Back home, Christmas was mostly for children and couples, so I must say I've never felt too strong an attachment to it, but there is something to be said about how winter holidays can inspire art.

Music as well. Have you been able to create anything inspired by the season yet?

A few impressionist winter landscapes. Simple pieces, to keep my skills sharp. But no poetry, not just yet.

Though I like to think of it as making up for all the times I demanded presents as a child. Kinda like giving back?

I think that only serves to prove my point honestly since most wouldn't even think to do that once leaving childhood.

They really are, aren't they. I must admit that I'm ver fond of that part myself as well. It's just a very beautiful time of the year.

I find that you can certainly make a very safe argument for this being the best time of the year. You certainly will not find any objections from me!
