so, about that death business
Hey, Retrospec.
I'll get right to the point here: as a few of you know, I died near the end of last year. Obviously it didn't stick, but I've been trying to figure out why-- and I think we've finally gotten somewhere on that point.
Full disclosure, some of this is edited, but you can't blame me for not wanting to plaster personal info all over this app, all right? I'm still giving you guys the important parts here. Skip the rest of this if you don't want to know.
So, first off- yeah, you can come back if you die, but try not to play too fast and loose with your life here. I didn't remember a damn thing about my memories or other life or whatever-it-is when I woke up again. They've been coming back, too, so if you want to get rid of your memories you're probably still out of luck.
[the first file chuuya attaches is an image of a computer screen, with a database displaying retrospec users and whether they're alive or dead. he's blurred individual names except his own, which has a 'restored' status; there's another blurred name with the same status in there too.]
After I died, apparently my body vanished, and the records of my death have been gone too; they turned back up in my file in this database, though.
[the second file uploaded is the coroner report from his death. this has parts blacked out to obscure personal details and basically just shows what kind of report it is, and that chuuya was in fact declared dead.
the third is a list that, again, has been edited to obscure information, so it's not immediately apparent what it's a list of. there's a percentage visible there, though, showing that chuuya was roughly 30% restored as of the time he saved this file.]
This is a list of all the shit I've remembered again since coming back-- and I guess everything that I haven't, I can't read the whole thing. Looks like they've been keeping track of how much I've gotten back, and how much I haven't; it's been kind of slow going, but I don't know if it's always that way or if it just varies.
The biggest thing, though, was this:
[there's one more file attached to the post, a report with the following information (copy-pasting from what I was given here)--
There's a separate report from the restoration department of Recollé that talks about the energy needed and precautions taken to balance the city and not cause an unnecessary temporal storm by restoring Chuuya. This report talks about how they lifted the body and virtually went in to stabilize/alter reality a little solely to slip Chuuya and his soul back into place before delivering him to the hospital. This is why people wake up after a few days from the dead and are not reported as dead after this point.
The report also talks about how revival includes short-term amnesia that directly effects the brain so that the newly revived remember people and the events by being on-network (world changes, etc.), but not previous restoration attempts (memories/powers/etc.) The brain is delicate, after all. It cites some of the work of Dr. J. Halliday who had done research on memory restoration and loss of memories. (Information that was found by team Yzma in August's plot.)]
There were a couple brain scans in there too, but I'm not posting that in public. If you're a doctor and you want to study them, though, I'll send you the files privately.
...so, there you go. That's everything we've managed to dig up. Do what you want with it, maybe it'll help figure some more shit out.

being brought back at all is one thing, but messing with reality to do it? that's going pretty far.

do you think the restoration is just a one-time thing or can they do this again on the off-chance that someone dies a second time

all I know is I'd get annoyed if I had to keep trying to restore the same person

dont anyone go testing that now though

it could be a case of 'well we messed with reality once to bring your ass back, you get one'-- or it could be the kind of thing where they'll keep saving us if they can
I'd like to think it's the second, but I don't think I'd blame them for not wanting to do it too many times, either.

in all seriousness though-- I don't know if I came back or if it's more like I both did and didn't die
the reality shit makes it complicated, I think.

thanks for sharing with us. this is pretty important information.
have any idea what this means for people that don't have Retrospec? they die naturally, right?

I don't know everyone on here, but the list in that database didn't seem like a whole city's worth of people

you find anything about other ppl being ""restored?"" or are you our lucky patient 0 right now

Sorry that happened to you. [bruh.]
You didn't remember dying, so what did you think you were in the hospital for? Or was it like going to sleep one night and waking up somewhere else completely?

I thought it must have been an accident or something, you know? I didn't remember anything happening so I assumed I got knocked out

even if the whole messing with reality thing is suspicious i'm glad they could bring you back
this stuff really does get weirder and weirder though

no end to the rabbit hole though, huh? at least we're figuring out more, even if we do just end up with more questions.

thank you for sharing it.
what do you make of all of it though?
no offense or anything, but why bring people back at all?
it sounds like a long process on their end.
no subject
if this is all some kind of experiment like some folks think, it's not like losing one would be a huge deal when there's so many more.
so they must have good reason to want us alive if they'll go to the trouble, right?
still think they may as well tell us everything and if there's consequences we'll just deal with them like we dealt with all of the shit a few months ago, but I at least don't think it's anything malicious, you know?
(no subject)
voice.
You know, if you wanted your own death report, you could have asked me instead of using the coroner's.

[retrospec's end of it, more on what happened to get him back.]
no subject
do you remember what it was like?
dying i mean
or being dead
and then not being dead
[sure she could ask about this kind of thing from ghosts, if she really wanted to know, but... the living might bring a different perspective to it.]
no subject
pretty much like passing out, you know? I just woke up from it. no idea what it was like, if there even was anything to it.
