Ah, now there's an interesting proposal. If someone has an incorrect interpretation of a piece of art, but still appreciates that art, is the appreciation invalidated by their ignorance?

I agree.

It's a beautiful, memorable song. Even if someone has a wrong-headed idea of what it might mean, it's not a reflection of poor taste. The song is just as beautiful, when listened to from any perspective.
