is "you look like you go to hot topic" considered a compliment or an insult?

i've had this said to me before a few times but i woke up today with my eye color changed and now even more people are telling me this

i do not know hot topic's reputation enough to know if i want to be associated with it. please help

besides there are other shops that can suit your new eye color

and i'm not sad or a hack. i want to be neither

that's the whole point of fashion - to look decent no matter what skin tone or eye color or hairstyle you have
if you don't want to be a sad hack or whatever you should shop somewhere else

i shop at little stores and thrift shops because i don't have that much money

i think you need to have a lot of money to be fashionable

also a will to be fashionable. it seems like too much effort

im a model and tbh i can never be caught dead wearing things from 99 cent stores anytime soon but there are actually some outfits that aren't too bad if you know where to look
