ATTENTION RECOLLE HIGH STUDENTS!
Ever wanted to perform in a musical? Now is your big chance!
This Spring our school will be putting on a production of Villainous the story of how the Evil Witch Melfaba from the Land of Droz was once best friends with the Good Witch Kalinda. Those of you who are musical fans have likely heard at least a song or two from it. Take a listen to the Broadway soundtrack if you haven't.
This semester's drama club is too small so auditions will be open to any and all students of Recolle High. Please show up with a prepared song and monologue for speaking/singing roles. It doesn't have to be from the play but make sure you choose an audition piece that really shows off your abilities. Audition songs will be performed without instrumental accompaniment so I can clearly hear your voice. Keep that in mind.
Auditions will be held after school on Monday in the auditorium. If you have any questions comment here or come see me between classes!
[ooc: If you'd like to jump right to your character's audition you're welcome to reply with action here or in Mr. Nelson's IC inbox.]

action time!
Not gonna lie, she's nervous. The last time she stood on a stage was in second grade, she's never been in choir or taken voice lessons, and yet here she is trying out for the lead in a beloved Broadway musical that she's never even seen all the way through. Heck, she had to print off the lyrics to the song because of that one part she kept forgetting. She is 99% sure she is not going to get this part, and a little voice in the back of her mind says she's crazy for trying.
But hey, she's here.]
Umm, hi. I'm Ami Aihara.
[how is this done, how do auditions work...]

[Mr. Nelson has a pad in one hand and a pen in the other and he's already scribbling down notes. Who knows what he's writing. Or doodling? It is a mystery!]

Now were there any specific roles you were auditioning for today?

[Ami takes a deep breath, and without further ado, she begins.]
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same...
[it's Defying Gravity, of course. she's only had the weekend to prepare, she's new to the concept of vocal warm-ups, she's mostly untrained, and her nervousness does come out in her voice now and then - but she knows most of the words (though for some parts she has to look at the paper she brought), she only misses a few notes, and even when she makes a mistake, she knows not to stop. and she can project! overall, she gives a pretty decent performance, especially for a kid her age with no experience.]
... And nobody in all of Oz
No wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!
[that long last note, and she finishes with a grin. one way or another, she really put her heart into it.]

She does make mistakes but she has a big voice that fills the auditorium. There is definitely potential.]
Great! You're the only one to sing a song from the play so far today. I like your spunk.
When you're ready you can start your monologue.
[An important question: Can she act?]
