So does anyone else have children in the memories they've been getting?

To answer my own question the woman I am in my memories has a son and then her son has three children as well.

[ So this tbh pretty young looking 41 year old is a grandmother in her memories but that's beside the point. ]

But no, it really is. It hit me like a truck when I recalled more about her husband.

I'm not sure myself, yet. I'm one of the newer ones here so every memory is startling.

Forgive me, this might seem strange but can you think of some reason a child might call a person, ah. Master-mother?

Ah and that's fair. Every memory remains surprising to me to some extent, but especially early on it was jarring. I just wouldn't want someone to lose themselves entirely. It's a bit of a habit of mine.

I can't say if she was human or not. Definitely not normal, though.

Well it sounds like a very strange relationship, perhaps with servitude or slavery involved but if she's obviously abnormal, perhaps some sort of summoned being?

I'm wondering if something of occult nature is happening there, based on the circumstances.

That would be far from unheard of, even in the memories I know some other people have.

Oh? Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. Retrospec itself seems pretty supernatural.

It really can be yeah.

It's not my place to speak for anyone else, but to show what I mean, the woman in my memories is a vampire. So anything's possible, really.

I think I know what that child was. She was a familiar--I think.

Yeah, that's right about the vampire thing though

I just remembered something. Reading about some sort of summoning ritual. These particular familiars were supposed to be of the strongest sorts. I think. I don't think I really understood most of it.

You haven't regained anything related towards being a vampire, though?

No, plenty.

My eyes have been replaced, I have muscles and reflexes the same as she had them. I can detect bats like a sixth sense and I've gained some other abilities.

Fortunately, my body's still mostly human.

But okay, so some summoned thing! Huh, weird someone would summon a child.

AT least you don't have to hide during the day yet, at least. That would be annoying, I think.

From what I read, I think that it was possible that it wasn't supposed to be a child. It's supposed to be the ghost of a great hero in their prime. So, this child could have been older in life but achieved greatness as a child.

I think. It was vague.

Wow, that really does sound confusing. So basically its like a child actor except... a hero?

[leaveittomother]

Something like that, I think? For example... Mm. I'm just using this as an example, I really don't know if it's the case but well. Let's say someone saved their village from an invading army as a child by running to tell them and gained fame that way. Their 'heroic' moment would be in their childhood.

Normally, I think they'd just look like a child but retain memories of their entire lives.

This, though... I'm actually kind of worried.

If it's a child that acts like a child, I can see why you would be.

They have, but honestly what I meant more was...

It makes sense to be worried? I hope most people would worry about a child being brought around like that.

Honestly, my own memories weren't easy to believe until a month or three in.

If mine are anything to go by I don't blame you. All of this seems pretty hard to believe after all.
