Kara Ellis shared a photo. 2/23 near Recolle U.

So Retrospec sent me a cape. Weird, huh? Had a little fun with Photoshop since it makes me feel like some sort of hero, and it's definitely an upgrade from the towels I wore as a kid. Has anyone else gotten something like this? It feels way, way more significant than just a bit of cloth, but hell if I know why.

You think? I shopped a good 20 pounds off.

And yeah, maybe. Wonder Nerd, with Kung-Fu grip. Very me, yeah?

I figured I was better off not mentioning that.

Hm... sounds about right, yeah. But thematically, it's all over the place. You need some kind of unifying gimmick.

You thought right.

Unifying gimmick huh? I mean, I'm not going to wear an animal themed costume.
Or anything like this, if I can help it. The cape is weird enough.

Come on, Kara, think of the action figures. Think of your target demographic. I'm just saying, if animal-themed is what the kids are into, that's where your money is. That's just good exploitative business.

Seriously, though. What's it made of? Looks heavy.

Nope.

And seriously? I have no idea. It is heavy, but it's soft. And warm. I've never seen a fabric like it. I think it's probably some sort of polymer but it's really hard to say.

Hmm. Well, I googled it, and apparently you can identify fabric samples by setting them on fire! (That's real, I'm not even joking.) Still, maybe you could do some kind of chemical test on it.

Has it triggered any... I don't know. Flashbacks, for lack of a better word? [he's only had a couple yet, himself, but that's what they felt like.]

The cape? No.
Though I remember a guy in one.

Built like a brick wall, flying.

... Wait. Really? I've seen him, too.

No shit?
Big red S on his chest?

Uh... hm. I'm not sure. He had some kind of logo on his chest, but I couldn't make out his face.

But he was built, and he was flying.

Well hell.
We may be remembering the same guy.

That's wild.

No kidding. Do you think we knew each other? That'd be a hell of a coincidence.

Any idea who he was? The getup screams superhero, and I get the feeling he was ... incredibly important, somehow.

Maybe.
But this guy? well. I think maybe he's important too.
Really, really significant. Like, maybe the head hero.

He was kind of preachy, too.

[superposition]

The head hero, huh... Now there's an interesting idea. Is there a hierarchy? What would a society of superheroes even look like? Hell, what's there to stop them setting up a superpowered ruling class? Do they ever address that in the comics?

[argone]

Morality.
I think it's morality.

This guy was lecturing me about helping people, and responsibility.

[superposition]

Hm. I guess it'd have to be, wouldn't it? That'd take more self-control than I've got, tell you that for free.

[The puzzle pieces are already starting to connect, though. She knew the head hero personally. She had a cape. It's not enough to be drawing conclusions from, not by any means, but it's enough to set off some wild speculation.]

True. I mean, I don't think I'd have that kind of control either. But hopefully it won't be an issue for me.

What do you mean?

Well I hope I gain powers obviously because that would be life-changing.

But I hope I don't get powers that might tempt me to take any sort of action like that.
