I'm in need of advise.
I've had a memory of someone here in the city, who I believe is also on Retrospec, and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. Mostly because I don't really know them... at least not in this lifetime. We only met once and the circumstances were, to put it mildly, pretty odd.
Now I'm assuming (and please don't make the joke, it's one of my father's favorites and it gets old real fast) that I'm not the first person this has happened to, and so I was hoping someone here might have some useful advise for me.

try talking to them
see if any memory kicks for them
might help you as well
to work on youor memories together
even if it was a brief moment
good possibility that there is more than that once in the past
no subject
I think part of my difficulty comes from that in normal circumstances tracking down a veritable stranger to tell them I've had a brief memory of them could come off as somewhat creepy. Especially if they happen to be a woman.
(I also might be overthinking things a bit.)
no subject
just make a large callout post on here
be all
look i have this memory with soandso
are you on here too
no subject
I'll consider it.
Might wait until I have more than one person on that list though.
no subject
i was lucky
the guy in my memory is also an old college friend
we compare notes and everything
its pretty cool
no subject
Did they remember you too? At first, I mean.
Hm...
I actually have an old-ish friend that gained access here about the same time I did.
I wonder if he's going to turn up in one of my memories as well.
no subject
we have similar pieces of memories
some of the same people in them
no subject
If I'm understanding you correctly.
no subject
he sees things from his other
i see things from my other
we compare notes
figure out what is happening from that
no subject
what a stupid question
just go talk to them for fuck's sake
you really think you can get their attention from this post alone
no subject
Also, what on earth makes you think this was meant to be a call for their attention? Because that certainly wasn't my purpose when making it.
no subject
then there's a chance that they'll see this post
try to keep up, all right?
and anyways, are you just going to wait for them to hit them up?
no subject
Yes, of course I knew that there was a chance they'd see it, but where else was I supposed to ask?
However, because apparently this needs repeating, getting in contact with them is not why I made this post.
I made it because I wanted some advice on how to approach a stranger to tell them I've had a memory of them before I made an attempt to contact them.
no subject
because there is someone in my memories who I wouldn't know how to react to at all if he ever appeared here
the closest I get to actually experiencing it is knowing I used to own my friends
...well sort of
no subject
I haven't really experienced enough memories of anyone specific to have any feelings one way or the other yet, except for a kind of general awkwardness.
Um... you - sort of - owned your friends? Sorry, but you gonna have to elaborate a bit on that.
no subject
I already know from my memories that I had some really REALLY intense feelings about this guy
but here and now... I don’t know him
it’s weird
oh it was because they used to be swords
like in their previous lives or whatever, they were swords before they became people
no subject
When you say swords are we talking actual swords, as in long metal things with sharp edges, or something a bit more metaphorical?
no subject
I mean like actual swords yep
somehow they used to be swords and then became some kind of spirits connected to swords
no subject
Wow. That's... wow.
I'm torn between wanting to ask a million questions about it and needing, like, a week or two and quite a bit of alcohol just to wrap my head around it.
So I'm guessing you're some kind of swordsman, or knight, in your memories?
no subject
It took me kind of like that too, even though I don’t even drink
but yes, I was something like that... a samurai, specifically
I belonged to an apparently famous military unit during the 19th century
no subject
I can imagine. I mean, it must have been even more weird for you than it is for me.
That's cool! At least theoretically, if you know what I mean. ^^
You must be/have been pretty good at it.
I have to admit I don't know very much about the samurai, and I'm kinda doubtful about the accuracy of most of what I do know.
Are we talking our 19th century?
no subject
mine's broken, though...
as in our 19th century, yep
apparently I'm part of history ρ(´-_-`●)
no subject
Suddenly my life doesn't seem so complicated anymore.
...Wow! That's a lot to live up to.
So if you're part of our history and he used to be your sword and then became a spirit...
Does that mean spirits and ghosts and whatnots have always been real?
no subject
and well, just wait. your life will probably get more complicated too :P
"the famous captain and swordsman of the Shinsengumi" mm it's not really me, you know
and I honestly don't know
my parents are kind of casually Shintoist, but this is all kind of... way over my head tbh
no subject
I think we might have discovered another gift. You're wonderfully reassuring as well!
It's definitely a mouthful.
Then again, if you've already been a strong and powerful swordsman in a past life there's really no need to do it again this time around, is there? Unless you really want to.
My parents are kind of christian and that hasn't really stuck either.
And while I've had fun imagining it I've never really believed in anything supernatural, holy or otherwise.
...Until about two months ago that is.
no subject
haha I’m usually a bit better ^^;;; but it’s been a rough time
I hope so. I’m trying to become a social worker so I don’t have time :P
it’s not exactly that I don’t believe in it, it’s just that it hasn’t been part of my life much, you know?
and sword spirits and child sized monsters have not ever been something I had to consider before
but now I guess anything is possible, yes
no subject
I don't mind it. Gallows humor have been a very consistent part of my upbringing. ;)
Social worker by day, sword wielding warrior for justice by night.
It has a definite super hero vibe to it. With a bit of a twist. ^^
Yeah. I'm more of an unbeliever, but I think I get what you're saying.
Not sure if being more involved in religion would have prepared you for that either tbh.
Horror movies will never be the same. y( ꒪◊꒪)y
no subject
and at least it’s better to be laughing than crying, as you say
not very likely (;´∀`) I’m too squeamish about blood to be a good vigilante
[Also his lungs are too fucked, but he’d rather not think about that.]
I imagine not much would prepare me
honestly though the stuff that wasn’t supernatural has been a lot harder to get over
there’s a lot of violence
no subject
no subject
(Well, I still don't really know how to say this so I guess I'll just have to go ahead and wing it. ^^;)
I'm pretty sure one of the memories I've had involved you. Any chance you'd like to talk about it?
no subject
no subject
It's not much. (Also please excuse my attempts at spelling unfamiliar names.)
We're meeting in some city, but it's not one I recognize. There's a young woman hugging you who I think is named or, more likely, nicknamed Koala. You say her name, mine and Hack/Hak (who I don't see but think is still there with us), you know, a bit like a greeting? And she, Koala, refers to you as "Robin-san".
Then you ask me if I've met someone called Lyffi/Luffi/Luffy (or something like that) and introduce us to a friend, who looks really beaten up, by the name of Usop/Usopp. I think he tries to introduce himself too, but with his injuries I can't really make out what he's saying so I'm suggesting we just let him rest.
And that's about it.
no subject
"You don't know me but I dream about you"
I guarantee it will go well.
no subject
It's not like that sounds like one of the worse kind of pick-up lines or anything.
I may be a bit clueless sometimes but I'm not actually that gullible, tyvm.
no subject
You never know what stupid things people will do.
no subject
Even though I guess it would have been at my expense.
It's not very nice though, you know.
no subject
I'd be teaching them a valuable lesson not to listen to the advice of random strangers on the internet.
Sounds pretty nice to me.
