[Usually Howard interacts with the network through text, since he's nervous of using any other format, but this time, his deep and weary voice can be heard.]

Um. A question out of curiosity, I-I suppose. If you've "received" a physical change through Retrospec, what was it? If you've received several, what is the worst one...?

[There's the sound of something falling off a table onto the floor. He lets out a shuddering sigh, his tone slightly exasperated.]

Yeah. [A pause.] Before I forget, I need someone who can go out and get some groceries for me. I'll pay you for it. I just don't feel like going outside for a while. I-I'm fine...really...............

tentacle hands now. life is fun!]

Oh, thank you! Hee hee.

Ummm, honestly, I'm not entirely sure how it worked--I haven't remembered anything about actually, you know, reaping. But I know we all had these swords, and I guess we used those for it? If I'm interpreting that knowledge correctly, then living humans just died normally, and we'd show up afterward to send them on.

I think they changed shape a lot of the time... there was probably at least one or two that turned into a sickle.

Isn't that how it usually works?
I mean, I guess in some traditions the death doesn't take until the grim reaper has signed off on it or whatever, but it's still generally people who were already going to die due to independent circumstances. So isn't it just a matter of whether the reaper shows up right before or right after?

Maybe I'm confused about what "reaping" is. Is it when you cut down the wheat, or when you take it inside the barn or whatever? Or are they both part of it?

Then maybe were were just "soul gatherers."
But with swords.

I don't think we had to carry them back... We just kind of stamped them on the forehead and then they... went?

Also, please keep in mind that none of this was my idea. All I can do is try to make sense of what I remember.
