Dr. Kara Ellis shared a photo.

Hello everyone.
This picture is from less than 5 minutes ago. I just took it, so excuse the quality, but it's relevant to what I'm posting about. Good time or not, I had a very real conversation a few days ago and I wanted to make this post while it was all still fresh in my mind. It might get a little weird, but bear with me.
My other self wasn't human. She looked human, and she lived on Earth, but she was an alien with some extremely powerful abilities. Some of these abilities have been granted to me. She adopted Earth as a home after hers was destroyed, and acted as some sort of protector. In short, she was a superhero, and she was a pretty good person for doing that in my book. It is increasingly becoming clear that people with superpowers were not that unusual in that world, but here they are. Because of that, she had people around to temper her, hold her accountable when she screwed up, on top of her own morality.
However, I am not the same person she was, and the situation is different. I don't think we have a superhero police force or anything. I'll freely admit I've begun wondering if I really am human anymore, too. I do not think it is a bad thing, because I am still possessing humanity, and I don't think that I'm going to cause trouble, but I want to make myself accountable in some way.
Hence this post. I can fly, I'm incredibly strong and fast, and I was hit by a bus the other day and as you can see, I'm not dead.
I don't want to make it a secret that I have powers, and I don't want to avoid talking about them publicly because if I screw up, I want it obvious that it was me. I do not want to hide them, because hiding them creates the temptation for abusing them, and knowing that you are informed will help too. So, this is me informing you all, and offering assistance. John's volunteer force is good, but if you need help with something on an individual level please ask. My father always said that helping others is a way to keep yourself grounded in reality, and with all these changes, I really need that.
And if you have powers of your own, and want to use this post to talk about or share them, that's fine too.

I hope it doesn't keep happening...

Though that's starting to sound like a good idea.
Also you got hit by a fucking BUS and waited until now to tell people???
no subject
And yeah, I did. A week ago. I'm fine, though.
Seriously, fine.
no subject
I mean what if your skin is just super strong and you've got an internal hemorrhage or something?
no subject
I'm fine. Really. It's bizarre but hey, so are super powers.

thank you for showing it to us
[And in no way did she use google search to find if she took it from there. Not at all!]
and, i don't have much of an opinion about everything you just wrote
not because i care, but because of the topic and points you raised
it isn't something that should be taken lightly since it is clearly something important to you
but, before i get to anything else, i just have one question to ask
are you really okay after the bus accident?
no one got hurt, right?
no subject
The bus is not fine. But the people inside were.
Think about a big truck hitting a lightpost. That's what it was like.
no subject
glad to hear you and everyone else made it out alright.
but still!
you may not have gotten any physical scars or whatever, but it must have been a shock all the same right?
not sure i would compare it to a big truck since you don't really look like one.
maybe i can see it more as getting whacked by a rake after stepping on it?
since, you know, it may not hurt, but i think it would give off the same surprising effect.
[...sorry random person with super powers, she can't help wonder the reason she is comparing it something so...not very human and in a detached kinda way.]
anyway!
you made a lot of points in your post.
will it be okay to put my thoughts down in bullet points and you can choose whatever you wanna answer?
i kinda don't agree with some it while i have questions about others.

That sounds easy.

I would not object to others holding me accountable for my actions, either.

[ Even he has heard of the events of the comics of Citizen War, or whatever it was called... ]
no subject
[Citizen War is a Marvelous thing, not a DeeCee.]
Since a lot of it seems to hinge on Superman, and I don't even know how you'd stop him.

If I ever move to a new apartment, I'm enlisting your help. Or even a new office at the university.
no subject
You know that.
no subject
I guess I do.
You'll be fine, Karen. If there's anyone that wouldn't abuse their powers, well, you're at least high on that list.

doesn't sound like a half bad idea
sooner or later someone innocent's gonna get seriously hurt bc of people's superpowers
how did that work on your other self, ms. gets hit by a bus and walks away unscathed?
no subject
The Justice League, the Legion of Superheroes, the Titans, and the Red Lanterns are all names I've heard. I assume that they dealt with people who abused their powers. otherwise why have a team. I don't know specifics, but I figure that nobody is above the law, or at least commonly accepted morality.
But that's assumption and speculation with a healthy dose of boning up on comic books.
