[ This message, as always, seems to be coming from one Beta#1101141-- it's a pretty serious one, a stark contrast to most of her posts in general, really. ]

This is Mio, just so that everyone is aware.

As most of you have probably have guessed from the last few posts, this is another post about our current predicament. I'm actually pretty angry that I was right about this whole thing being an illness, given what's happened to me before, so I obviously want to help stop it from spreading and help cure everyone-- so if you're interested at the very least in taking on one of the quests from the Wiffle Waffle mailbox with me, I'm open to it.

I'll use all my hours to find a cure for everyone if I have to.

I'm not going to allow for a repeat of June.

( ooc. And as stated, if you'd like to do a cure quest with Mio and haven't done so yet, feel free to plot with me through PM or hit me up on plurk at endlesseight! )

[ Her initial response is almost immediate—Kaede wants to do absolutely anything she can to help everyone out. ]

I'd be more than happy to work with you, Kaede. [ Mio's response is also quick, and for rather good reason. ] Doesn't matter to me. I already got some stuff for... [...] a bunch of the other monsters, so I'll pretty much do whatever.

[ It'll be really nice to catch up with Mio. It's been hard to really do that with all the chaos lately.

Kaede heads over to Wiffle Waffle, hoping to get there as soon as possible. ]

[ Mio does hurry over there as well, a little out of breath upon arrival. Not to mention that her eyes are a little baggy, obvious by the lack of sleep. ] Hello, Kaede! It's been a while, hasn't it? ☆

Hey, Mio! It's nice to see you!

[ It really has been a while, especially since they've been so caught up in everything going on. Kaede notices the bags under her eyes, and a look of worry flashes over her face before she smiles. ]

Should we get started?

[ She's a little excited to take on a quest, if a bit nervous. ]

Yeah. [ There's not much that Mio can honestly say here. Honestly, what can she say? ] And alright, let's do this. Hopefully we don't have to go to a place that's too crazy...

[ Kaede nods, thinking about all the potential places they could end up going. ]

Me too. I feel like we've had enough of strange places by now.

Yeah. I mean, I had to go back to hell in order to get something for Leon. It wasn't fun. [ She's just so tired, Kaede... ] Anyway, let's see what they have in store for us, shall we? You wanna grab the note from the mailbox?

he's looking highly translucent... and he's kinda dressed up like a Johnny Cash samurai, complete with sword. his voice probably sounds a bit distant or hollow, but it's audible, at least. ]

Ah, Ms. Sonozaki! Good afternoon...

[ the mailbox helpfully provides a note. he'll let her read it first if she wants. ]

Good afternoon. [ Mio smiles although she does keep her voice a little low since she's trying to keep up some appearances. ] And just call me Mio-- you're probably older than me, right?

[floret]

Oh, probably. I'm 21. [ he's never really gone by the proper Japanese hierarchies, of course. his grandmother tried to drill them into him, but SoCal was not a proper environment for her teachings to take hold. ]

Mio, then...
You can just call me Jamie, of course.

[promisedyou]

Yeah, I'm eighteen. Not even old enough to drink in this country. [ Or even back home, but Japan is actually a lot more lax about the alcohol drinking law, so it's not that big of a deal. Not that she's ever drank before... ] I will. Anyway, we got the note, right? Let's get going. I know where the hospital is if it's that one.

[floret]

Oh, I just started drinking a few months ago!
...It's fine.

[ They head to the hospital! ]

I'm glad we won't have to go all the way to Bosuma for this.
Do you think they'll let us in if we explain what we need? ...Or if you explain, I guess...

[ Or he could just go through a wall and let her in through a side door... or take advatange of his invisibility to cause a noisy distraction without any risk of getting caught... but they should probably at least try to do this legitimately, right? ]

Huh. [ She does walk to the hospital, mulling things over in her head, humming a little bit. ] I think I can try explaining myself... or come up with some sort of excuse? Dunno if they'll actually believe that we need the cures for like. Monsters. Maybe half-truths would work?

[floret]

Maybe. I'll leave it up to your judgment since you're the only one they'll actually see... if you decide you want me to cause a distraction, just wave your hand below the desk or something! ...and if you want to just sneak in from another entrance, then I guess just walk away.

[ They arrive! By now he's gotten the hang of phasing through doors and walls, but the front door is automatic, so it would've opened anyway with Mio there.

He hangs out in the lobby and leaves her to it for now. ]

Alright. I'll signal if it comes to that. [ "If". She really hopes that it doesn't. Nevertheless, she does walk up to the front desk and while she tries to explain the situation - vaguely enough - she's soon brushed off and she can't help but sigh. If she knew someone that was in the hospital right now, that'd be great, but she unfortunately does not. Not this time. Chewing on her lower lip, she knows that she has to come with some sort of excuse, or something, and eventually what comes out-- ] I know everyone's busy, but I need a check up with my doctor. I think I might have come up with something. [ Mio forces a frown, tugging at one of her arms. ] After what happened a few months ago, I have to be sure, since I might have caught it from... [ She twirls a strand of hair around her finger idly, nervous. The receptionist at the front desk tells her to sign in at the very least and she relaxes as she's directed to where to go verbally. With a nod and appropriate thanks, she finally gets past the front desk, her shoulders relaxing just a little. ]

[ Jamie watches all this go down, and then he drifts on through, attracting no attention from anyone, and joins her just past the desk!

Of course, he wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but with the enhanced senses and all, he can't really help it. Oh well. ]

Great job! I hope they don't notify anyone you're coming...
I think storage is on the third floor. [ He pushes the elevator button without thinking. Fortunately, no one else is around to see it light up by itself. ]

It's fine. [ She says it with a relaxed motion once they enter the elevator. Thankfully they are alone, so she doesn't mind talking, although she does keep her voice low in case of cameras. ] If I have to come up with some sort of excuse later, I'll deal with it then. I don't mind actually going through with the check up after this, since I'm a little bit worried, but I should be okay. I'm... pretty sure, anyway.

[floret]

[ He's about to hesitantly ask about exactly what a checkup would entail in this case--bloodwork? pupil response?--but it's actually just as well that things get weird before he gets the chance. As the elevator starts zooming sideways, his most pressing concern is maintaining a solid enough presence to stay firmly inside it.

The doors open... ]

[promisedyou]

[ It's when the elevator seems to shift sideways that Mio finds herself a little unsteady, having to place her hand onto the wall to keep herself together before it finally stops and the doors finally open. ] Uh. That sure happened. Are you okay?

[floret]

Yeah! [ ...but he realizes he was a bit unsteadier than he thought when he stumbles out into the corridor and has to catch himself on the wall. Still, he offers a phantasmal hand to assist her in case she needs it. (It will actually feel solid. But he won't be offended or anything if she doesn't feel the need to find out.) ]

...You?

Yeah-- [ She has to take a breath as she takes the hand to support herself. ] Thanks, by the way.

Oh, my pleasure. [ he helped! ^o^

Anyway, here they are... in... here. The supplies are going into the tubes, but no one seems to be running the show... ]

Has the hospital always had a place like this??

[ She can't help but swallow a little bit, but she's earnestly glad for the assistance. And here they are. ] I have no idea, but... maybe this is a Retrospec thing? Maybe? Since the elevators did go weird.

[floret]

They did.
These pipes must be going to the rest of the hospital, but I wonder whether the people at the other ends know that there's nobody on this one...

...Anyway. Let's keep going. It's supposed to be some kind of special bandage... do you suppose we'll know it when we see it?

[promisedyou]

[ And to the comment about the people, Mio just... shrugs? She doesn't know these things at all in the slightest bit. ] Yeah, let's. I don't want to straggle for too much longer. If it's a special bandage, it's probably one that looks different?

[floret]

Let's hope so.

[ he glances around dubiously. Nothing around here looks like a special bandage. But the hallway continues, as do the pipes... and at least it's reasonably well lit in here.

Eventually, they reach... a length of bandage hanging out of a pipe, with no end in sight! ]

Oh! Maybe that's it?
Do you think it's okay to touch it with our bare hands?

Mm.

[ She's a little quiet but she does hope it's just simple. ]

Do you want to try?

Sure...
Actually, I don't know if my skin can transmit pathogens right now in the first place, so I may as well try.

[ He touches it!
And pulls the end out of the pipe it's in... it's a bit slippery.

He tugs on it, but wherever the other end is (somewhere further down the hall), it's attached pretty solidly. ]

...How much do you think we need?

As much as you think you can grab. I don't know how many people are infected, so it's better to get more rather than less.

[floret]

[ Hesitantly, he continues down the corridor, winding the bandage up in his hands as he goes. ]

D-did you hear that??

[ ...he's referring to the sound coming from somewhere in the distance. The one that sounds exactly like a gigantic spider person weaving gigantic spider silk. ]

[promisedyou]

Huh? [ Mio flinches a little bit as she seems to hear something, causing her to chew on her lower lip nervously, because, yeah that's. That's not good. ] Do you think we can make a run for it?

[floret]

[ He hesitates.

They could just cut off the length of bandage they already have and go back. It's not a lot, but it's not a pathetically small amount; they can likely do some good with this much.

On the other hand, it's not a sure thing that the creature up ahead--he can just barely make it out with his sharpened vision--means them harm. And even if it does, it probably won't be able to touch Jamie at all if he's intangible--maybe it won't even be able to see him.

But Mio isn't invisible or intangible, obviously. ]

...I don't know.
Retrospec asked us to do this, so I don't think it'll be impossible. But you're probably the only one who's actually in danger, since I'm just a spirit. So it's up to you.
