[ James's eyes widen at the sight of the paper. He immediately pockets it and goes hunting for a pen in the stationary aisle, glancing around to check for security cameras and any blind spots they may have. He doesn't know if there's even any point to this--does the culprit have access to security cameras in some random convenience store?--but if they're trying to be stealthy, then James's brain is going through the process on a bit of autopilot.

Once he finds a cheap cup of 99 cent pens, he grabs one and scribbles out a response.

[Lina fishes a pen out of her pocket, bites her lip, and starts writing.]

He said something to someone, the day one of the victims died. Whether or not her life was worth anything, whether the world was better off without her. I mean, he seems nice enough, but he's giving off vibes. I try not to talk to him about anything serious.

So, uh, how's life?

I don't think that's enough to say he did it but it's definitely suspicious for sure. Especially since he was on Zee's list too. I'll check it out.

Oh...you know. Just doing a lot of...Christmas shopping. Lots of people to shop for, not enough time.

I guess so. [She shuffles her feet and laughs nervously.] But at the same time, it's really easy to tell who doesn't have rich parents.

He struggles to come up with anything beyond that though. Why do all of his coping strategies end with hitting something???? He has to legitimately think about this for longer than he should. ]

...Just say your family doesn't celebrate Christmas then. No one has to know what you do or don't buy, or get.
