To all Retrospec users. I normally don't talk publically all the many different spells I can use, but I have recently remembered two spells that I feel would be short sighted of me to not share with the world and make the world (or at least dealing with Retrospec) a bit better. What are these spells you may ask? Well, I'm glad you asked: THE CHEERING CHARM: a simple charm that will put you in a good mood for about... 15 min to one hour, give or take a few minutes. THE REPAIRING CHARM: a simple charm that will fix pretty much anything (not human). Did you break your glasses? Easy. Wreck your bike? No problem! Soooo... any takers?

The repairing charm sounds useful. You should have left it at that.

B/c the cheering charm sounds majorly skeevy.

Plus '15 minutes to an hour' is not 'give or take a few minutes.'

Skeevy? Is there something wrong with bringing people a bit of joy into their life? And consensual joy? I am asking if they would like me to use the spell on them.

It's artificial. It's not real joy. And when it wears off they're right back where they started with no progress at all.

Have you even used this on yourself? When you were sad or upset?

It's not like I'm saying the feelings are real.
It only lasts for a short time, and anyone asking for me to perform it will now that. They should accept the consequences.

And sort of. When I remembered the spell, I felt cheery for a bit.

You're not exactly saying they're not real either.

Seriously, it sounds sketchy as hell. Like, 'here, take this, it'll make you feel good.'

Just say 'no,' Derek. Just say 'no.'

Really? I have to spell it out? It's feelings created by magic. If a person can't figure that out, then they shouldn't even bother coming to me.

SWEET! What kind of things can you fix? Maybe you could do a side thing and fix cars with magic!

What car? My car's fine, and you don't have one.

Do it for like, a small fraction of the cost normal mechanics do and your golden.

I will not use my magic for money.

I'm not saying much, like 10 bucks.

Either way you might get mechanics to hate you anyway, if the firefighters in January are any indication they will hate your guts for your magic outshining them.

Wait, how DOES your cheer charm work? Is it like...uncontrolled laughter? FOR AN HOUR!?

You SURE that isn't some like...twisted "I will make you die laughing" thing?

No, because I have a perfectly fine job and I don't want to use my magic to make extra pocket money. I'm not strapped on finances.

And... no. You just feel cheery for a bit until is wears off.

And you're certain that charm with the emotions has no other side effects? It does precisely what it says, nothing more...?

[Derek about drops his phone when he sees Wesker respond. HA! EVEN WESKER IS INTERESTED! IN YOUR FACE RINKA! EVEN SOMEONE WHO TOTALLY DOESN'T LIKE HIM IS INTERESTED IN THE CHEERING CHARM!

Derek can barely contain is glee.]

I am quite certain. When I got the memory of the spell, I felt very cheery. It eventually faded away and I was back to normal. So no side effects as far as I could tell. If you want me to cast the spell on myself to double check, I can.

Oh, believe me, I require a live demonstration first.

[Shhhh, don't tell Derek that. He thinks Wesker is finally warming up to him!]

That won't be a problem. Is there a meeting spot you had in mind?

[In fairness, it is also not an awful reason. It's more like doing science. On himself. Just because.]

When it comes to an appropriate place to do this, I think you would know better than I would.

[Derek won't judge... for once.]

How about the Three Broomsticks? It's public, originally from a magical place, so me doing magic in there won't seem odd, and they have butter beer.

I don't know what butter beer is, and it sounds a little repulsive if you ask me. But I know the place you're talking about, and I wouldn't mind coming out there.

It's not actual beer. It's like Cream soda but 10x better.

How about tomorrow evening? Say around 7pm?

3/2 ACTION @ The Three Broomsticks

[Derek arrives at the Three Broomsticks right at 7pm. He waves to the bartender and then start looking around for Wesker. Is Wesker the type to show up early, late, right on schedule? Derek is about to find out.]

[He generally shows up on schedule, because he's...uh, let's say "he's not terribly socially inclined" for politeness' sake; showing up early means making pointless small talk with people, showing up late involves explaining oneself, he's just going to avoid both and show up more or less when he's supposed to.

He'll find Derek fairly easily, though he doesn't particularly have much to say; he'll approach anyway, seeing as they are here for a reason and all.]

[blondferret]

[Once he finds Wesker, Derek motions for him to sit at a table and goes up to the bar to order them some butter beer. With the order requested, he goes and sits across from Wesker.]

You know, I was actually surprised to see you even interested in some aspect of my magic. We normally don't see eye to eye on... anything really.

[He pulls out his wand and set it on the table.]

Just so we're clear, I will be pointing this at your face if you're up for it.

[manufactured]

[He'll join him easily.]

As long as it's done after pointing it at your own face, as we agreed, then I have no argument. I know what I asked for.

{So yeah, he's down.]

As for the interest, consider it personal curiosity, that's all.

[Personal curiosity? Derek can roll with that.

Derek points the wand at his face and thinks the spell. Soon a wave of positivity washes over him and he feel great. He feels emotionally lighter and that Wesker isn't that annoying of a person. With a large goofy grin on his face, Derek motions to himself.]

I'm feeling pretty good right now. Now sure how long it will last though.

[A waiter comes by and sets two butter beers on the table. Derek pushes one over to Wesker.]

Here, have some butter beer. It's the best! You'll love it!

[...Good...lord.]

...All right.

[He'll take it, at least.]

So all it does is instantly elevate one's mood, then.

[blondferret]

[Derek enthusiastically nods.]

Exactly! Puts you in a great mood for a short amount of time!

[Derek takes a sip of his butter beer.]

Ah, isn't butter beer the best? Have you tried yours yet?

[Derek looks at Wesker expectantly.]

[manufactured]

[He'll try some of it, anyway, though he's a bit apprehensive about doing so.

...Huh.]

...It's good, yes. It's not quite like anything I've had before.

[blondferret]

Considering it comes from a magical world, I didn't think you would have.

[Derek takes another sip, then puts his glass down.]

So, yo ready to try it yourself?

[Derek is grinning from ear to ear with excitement. Finally he may be able to see this guy happy.]

[manufactured]

Yes, I suppose.

[...]

Don't be surprised if it doesn't accomplish anything. Just as fair warning.

Alrighty then!

[Derek raises his wand, points it at Wesker's face. He then waves his wand and thinks he spell in his head. As soon as that's done. Derek lowers his wand and looks at Wekser.]

Well? How do you feel?

[manufactured]

[...Wow. Give him a moment, this is weird as hell.]

...I...don't know.

[It feels...well, everything feels better, sort of, in that way that things tend to feel better when Jaeger says something that makes sense of a difficult situation or something that's been bothering him gets resolved; it's a really weird sense that everything is right with the world and what's the point in worrying because everything's pretty great and-

Huh.]

It's...surprisingly good, I think.

[Derek smiles.]

Then the spell must be working! That's fantastic!
