Status report from the field teams? Same for the rescue teams. We have people out in both locations and from where I'm sitting you guys are moving pretty fast.

The layer itself isn't at a risk of collapsing just yet, but I don't really want to take a bunch of chances.

Also my office has since been taken over by Whistler's Mother and I can't get her to leave, so it looks like I'm temporarily moving. Again. Anybody else having this problem?

Report to me with anything you need. The map on my system's filling out as much as it can, but I feel like I'm missing pieces.

Keep each other posted. Oh, and heads up? Looks like tech had one more batch of testers they were going to bring in, so...if you see anybody new? Try and get them up to speed.

After a while you reach a point of "Of course this is happening. Why wouldn't this happen?" about practically everything.

You'd be surprised what you can get accustomed to.

I guess that's true. I'm already starting to accept some of the weirdness in my memories.

How high are you on the weirdness scale, would you say? Between 0 and 10, 0 being "I spent my days going to college as an English major and feeding my cat", and 10 being "I was literally a banana that somehow went on adventures and saved the world thirty times over."

Maybe a 7? People AND animals were granted powers if they absorbed a glowing, flying fish. The guy her father learned martial arts from wore a panda suit of all things. And apparently in my past life I fought with everyone from common gangsters to super powered criminals and possibly terrorists.

...Well, at least you seem to have come down on the right side of the conflict, if you were fighting criminals and terrorists. Which is better than can be said for a fair amount of us, I'm fairly sure.

Yeah, I've talked to someone whose past life was on the rather questionable side.

[putting it lightly, but she's trying to be polite]

On the one hand, I'm not surprised people would get an amazing ability and then turn around and use it to do bad things. But I'm still disappointed that they did.

Sometimes it's not even an ability, it was just a reasonably normal person on a power trip. That one tends to be fairly common as well, among the questionable ones.

Speaking from experience or generalizing what you've heard from others?

A bit of both. I'm pretty sure my past life thought the Magna Carta was a cute suggestion.

Wasn't that where the English nobles told the king he wasn't all powerful? Like, no illegal imprisonment and limits on how much the king could tax them?

I was really charming, obviously.

Yes, quite charming. Kind of sounds like this woman I remembered. She seemed to think everyone else was beneath her.

It seems to be a recurring theme in people's memories. If you're fortunate, it's not you.
