Money? Answers? None of the above? I'm all ears. The scouting project seems to be working out okay. I don't know if any of you have found a place that's really good to relocate or recover but maybe we should talk about that, too. …finally, bit of a morality question for you. What's the priority here, you think? Working on chasing Vanderweele down this rabbit hole of a wild goose chase (wow that is too many animal analogies), or memory recovery of the company itself? Both of them are about as convoluted as you think, but not impossible. Wait, not finally. Do we want Vanderweele to pay, or Retrospec to pay, or the worlds to be restored? If it's a pick one out of three, of course the answer goes to the worlds. Answers, Justice, or just Peace?

But I think we can get more out of the deal.

Presumably, if we get rid of all of Vanderweele's illusions, the rest of the world gets to chime in on what happens to him and Retrospec both.

It doesn't feel quite right to make that call on our own. Maybe if there is absolutely no other way that he can be brought to justice. Maybe.

Do not misunderstand me: I’m not out to try to save his life. I’m confident any justice system would come to the same conclusion, especially when shown how imprisonment has failed to stop the man already.

I just dont think he’s worth any one of us adding the burden of ‘killer’ onto our shoulders. Taking even a deserved life is not a small thing.

I'm not a minor anymore and have things to worry about like shelter and food, because I can't just walk into social services and tell them that I need something.

But, whatever, as long as we have our original worlds that are made out of rainbows it's fine, right? Because you can be whoever you want to be and the real world doesn't matter!

I think he means which one first. At least that's what I took out of it.

In order for justice to be delivered, there needs to be peace and in order for us to have a lasting peace, we need answers so we can best get peace.

Retrospec isn't the people that have those answers, though. They don't know what they're doing. They didn't know even before they lost their memories. So that's less of my priority.

Or I guess then the focus outght to be peace so we don't worry about dying while getting some answers.

Zee isn't exactly on Retrospec's side, don't lump him in with them. He's trying to get his answers about the man he's remembering, just like us. So, I think his question is if those kinds of answers are our top priority.

Yeah, don't need those, Figuring out what kind of hero my past self was, not exactly caring about that, what magic and dangers from my last life might crawl here? Yeah, I'm worried that what destroyed his world, is very much out and about.

My past life? Yeah, pretty, I don't have his full story yet.

But TL;DR version, he was a bastard prince that ran away from the crown because he felt that he was unfit to rule. Then when he gained magic, he came back to be an Arabian Robin Hood

They were starving, and the king planned to make every citizen a slave in order to make himself rich, then, he joined the fight against a secret organization that destroyed some other world without a moment's hesitation.

I only assume they succeeded because I am here. Which makes me worry if they survived to spread chaos, then destroy the world while everyone fights among themselves.

So, gaps to be sure, but it seems to me that he is pretty good.

Honestly, I'm not too strongly optimistic, but I would definitely like to go the path of 'why can't we have it all' because just choosing one is kind of BS.

I'm still hoping that if we drop Vanderweele's work, then the rest of the city will be able to see Retrospec and help with that whole 'bringing them to justice' thing.
