retrospec | (no subject)

It's been brought to my attention (again) that some of you are looking for compensation for the work you're doing. I'm open to that. So tell me, Retrospecters, what is it that you're looking for? Money? Answers? None of the above? I'm all ears.

The scouting project seems to be working out okay. I don't know if any of you have found a place that's really good to relocate or recover but maybe we should talk about that, too.

…finally, bit of a morality question for you.

What's the priority here, you think? Working on chasing Vanderweele down this rabbit hole of a wild goose chase (wow that is too many animal analogies), or memory recovery of the company itself? Both of them are about as convoluted as you think, but not impossible.

Wait, not finally. One more thing since someone brought it up: in case you haven't noticed yet, you might want to pay attention to the things you've managed to bring back because, and I hate to make it sounds real drastic, but the fate of the world kinda depends on it? Just a little. Welcome to your destiny, everybody.

I think he means which one first. At least that's what I took out of it.

In order for justice to be delivered, there needs to be peace and in order for us to have a lasting peace, we need answers so we can best get peace.

Retrospec isn't the people that have those answers, though. They don't know what they're doing. They didn't know even before they lost their memories. So that's less of my priority.

Fair enough, so what answers DOES he have and offers as payment when everyone's lives is at stake?

Or I guess then the focus outght to be peace so we don't worry about dying while getting some answers.

Zee isn't exactly on Retrospec's side, don't lump him in with them. He's trying to get his answers about the man he's remembering, just like us. So, I think his question is if those kinds of answers are our top priority.

Oh, those answers.

Yeah, don't need those, Figuring out what kind of hero my past self was, not exactly caring about that, what magic and dangers from my last life might crawl here? Yeah, I'm worried that what destroyed his world, is very much out and about.

Hero? You sound so certain of that. Can you tell so easily they were a good man?

My past life? Yeah, pretty, I don't have his full story yet.

But TL;DR version, he was a bastard prince that ran away from the crown because he felt that he was unfit to rule. Then when he gained magic, he came back to be an Arabian Robin Hood

They were starving, and the king planned to make every citizen a slave in order to make himself rich, then, he joined the fight against a secret organization that destroyed some other world without a moment's hesitation.

I only assume they succeeded because I am here. Which makes me worry if they survived to spread chaos, then destroy the world while everyone fights among themselves.

So, gaps to be sure, but it seems to me that he is pretty good.

So you believe this other person really is you. But plenty of people have remembered that other person dying, so dont assume there is some kind of path between that life and yours.

Those are his actions, but what about his motivations? Why does he do it, and why are you so ready to slap the label of hero onto him?

I think it might be my last life and reborn in some way here. If the Retrospec story is true, we are survivors of destroyed worlds, based on my memories I know who would have destroyed my world and potentially all the other worlds.

That's what I gather so far to make the pieces fit.

I'm still me though, just happen to have some perks from my last life because of Retrospec.

As far as I know, he just wanted to help people, at his lowest point, his deepest regret was the mistakes he made along the way, how he didn't do enough.

And, it kinda just seems like it, again, not the full story, but that's what it seems like so far.

Then I guess I'm glad you're free of the doubts of the rest of us. Just be careful you don't wish to become him so much you give up your own life.

Yeah, it's nice to think I was a hero once, but to go back to my world or BE like him.
