you ever have something happen to you that you're like "nah that'll never happen to me" but then here you are, plus one dog and feeling the weight of parental responsibility on your shoulders? i'm too young for this. anyway this is ruffles at the dog park just now! retrospec's width limitations suck but, you can probably tell he's a really good dog. well, i guess, with his previous owner and all. so i pose this question to you: do you think animals can feel sad and do they miss people that are no longer here?

I don't think he could look happier.

But I quite understand what you mean. I felt similarly when I found myself suddenly having to care for an array of cats in my home. Suddenly there's far more activity than you ever thought you'd be used to.

Were you friends with the previous owner?

[Straight to it.]

I would say that yes, a dog can feel things. I have seen them quite sad when owners were away for a few days. But I would also say that this might be overthinking it a little.

It is, after all, a dog. They are smart, but not that smart?

oh my gosh
I'd love that but Mikleo doesn't like dogs
maybe rufus can change his mind

I was thinking the end of this month. I'd make it March 17th but we both have to work that day

I'd have to say yes, for sure. I still have play dates with Kimi's litter mates, and she's always so happy to see the family that fostered her.

In any case, I'd say you're doing well so far. Just taking Ruffles to the park regularly will make a big difference in your relationship with him.

And thinking like that, I think you'll do just fine at pet ownership. It'll be a years-long commitment for you, but I think you'll be able to handle it. And besides, a dog makes for a good focal point of photography.

I hope you are doing well, also.

Is that seriously his name though. He doesn't look like a Ruffles.

I am going to need pictures of this.

But it'd be good to catch up and talk. Ruffles isn't the only one who misses the big guy.

I keep forgetting that his desk is going to stay empty.

Sophisticated isn't something you "pull off".
It's just called showing your intelligence.
Popular to disbelief, you have some.
Probably.

Hopefully.

[ naming his dog rufulles probably won't do him many favors in that regard and instead make him seem like a pompous ass, but that's neither here nor there. ]

I've gone through 17 years of not having to worry about a dog in my home.
I was a year away from being able to avoid it altogether.
The apartment was the excuse, but now we're house hunting and we all know what happens after that.
You can see why I'm the odd one out.
