you ever have something happen to you that you're like "nah that'll never happen to me" but then here you are, plus one dog and feeling the weight of parental responsibility on your shoulders? i'm too young for this. anyway this is ruffles at the dog park just now! retrospec's width limitations suck but, you can probably tell he's a really good dog. well, i guess, with his previous owner and all. so i pose this question to you: do you think animals can feel sad and do they miss people that are no longer here?
[are you talking about yourself or the dog, prompto?]
no subject
yeah i think i'll do that
actually i'm heading out to find some of his toys and things at my friend's place
no subject
... do you think I could come over and pet your dog sometimes?
no subject
i'll do you a better one and bring rufus over to your place
when is your apartment-warming party anyway?
no subject
I'd love that but Mikleo doesn't like dogs
maybe rufus can change his mind
I was thinking the end of this month. I'd make it March 17th but we both have to work that day
no subject
aw man you're just missing out on st patty's but i guess
i'll make time for end of the month
no subject
but he claims dogs are noisy and smell bad!!!! that's so unfair
it's not their fault they smell like wet dog when they're wet. i mean humans smell like wet humans
probably
I haven't actually checked.
cabin 11 needs all hands on deck that day, for obvious reasons
but thanks! I'll send out a reminder too.
no subject
to each their own right?
do you know luke? from c11?
no subject
yep, kittens are cute too so I've just resigned myself to the fact I'll never own a dog so long as I live with him.
yeah!! I hang around there a lot. I teach his sister's history class sometimes and he also does some martial arts stuff

[prompto's mind going a million per minute]
you can always have rufus
i'll allow you to visit him as often as your heart desires
?? you're
a teacher
no subject
you're a good man, prompto.
[Oh right he never actually. Told Prompto. Oops.]
just a student teacher!! I needed some experience toward my degree since I missed internships last year. undergrads end up teaching a lot more than you'd think but most of the time they're just grading machines.
no subject
[ignores the compliment because now he's embarrassed]
seriously! that's so cool though
that you're working towards your career like that so earnestly!
i didn't realise how much of a proper adult you were hahaha
no subject
I'm..... kind of lame honestly..... I throw so much into my work that sometimes I forget to go out and do other stuff. between school and work and kendo I'm basically on the go all the time
but this is my dream. not teaching -- archaeology. I've wanted to do it since I was a little kid. archaeologists get to explore and dig up history and puzzle it all together. there's nothing better
if you really want to do something, you can't give up even when it all seems impossible.
no subject
especially when all seems impossible!
whatever happens i support you 100% my dude
i've never even considered archaeology a thing but knowing you you're probably really passionate about it, and i can respect that a lot
no subject
archaeology isn't dead! well. I mean. all the people we dig up are, but that's another story. archaeology is why we can read hieroglyphs, use the mayan calendar, and trace the rise of human society before there was written history. before we started looking ourselves, all we had to go off of was what the Greeks and Romans wrote down and... well... people in power rewrite history as they see fit.
it's not dinosaurs, but that's the most famous related field I can think of.
you want to be a photographer, right? in some ways that's easier. if you think you're a photographer, you are one.
but we both kind of have to get published to be taken seriously.
no subject
[it's really cute, and inspiring, how into it he is]
so we're kindred spirits in a way huh?
that's what you're getting at
there aren't many sites to dig up here in recolle though are there?
no subject
yep kindred spirits!!
yeah Recollé isn't exactly a center for archaeological development. all the cool stuff I've found was in New Mexico actually..... there's a lot of pottery and old houses. sometimes you find skeletons buried under their floors
on the other hand, they did find richard iii under a parking lot.
no subject
do you keep any of the things you've found?
no subject
he was super unpopular at the time so they didn't bury him with the honors usually afforded a king
Historians have always debated that treatment though. when they dug him up, he was given a ceremony and interred in a proper resting place.
makes me wonder if richard's ghost haunted the nearby buildings......
some places let you, yeah!! I've got pot shards, trilobites... some really old amber. but anything uncommon or notable belongs in a museum.
