PHOTO | He found the snitch??
Noah Robin Catbell shared a photo.
4/01 near The Towers
can anyone tell me what the duck this is??
it showed up in a package from retrospec.
i wasnt gonna open it but then it ducking CHEWED its way out of the package.
what the heck kind of animal is this??
[Uh yeah he hasn't noticed the parental filter yet, or the pun name.]
no subject
its not like the oranges.
those things just smile and dance no matter what you do to them.
i think its actually happy to see me??
dunno why
[Which alone is weird...]
no subject
it's hard to tell happiness by the picture, without eyes and a mouth
also you have to name it
no subject
just hard to see when its closed.
havent found the eyes yet.
and i do?
i dunno what to name anything.
no subject
like the olm
and yes, you have to name it! it helps create a bond, see?
name it after a personality trait, or a favorite food, or anything that feels right
no subject
uh ok
guess ill try to think of something then??
no subject
when you think of one, try calling it by the name and teach it to come!
assuming it has ears
or a way of hearing
no subject
[A pause]
ok
i tried calling it pac-man
and it hissed at me.
i dont think it likes it.
no subject
but it can hiss! can it vocalize anything else?

[ Which he'll be doing just that. Trying to get the creature to talk, to make any noises. It doesn't respond to most of it. But when Noah asks if it can do anything, he's in for a surprise, as the creature opens up his mouth and a video begins to play.
Not just any video though. It was a recording of something he's seen before. In a vision.
Seeing that? Is a real shock, and throws him for a loop.
So much, that he kinda forgets to respond to Ryoji. Sorry Ryoji. ]

How many minutes pass before Ryoji starts sending regularly spaced texts to check up on him. "Noah" "hey" "are you there?" "still alive" "please come back" and similar messages fill Noah's phone, buzzing every few minutes until—
Noah's phone rings.
It's Ryoji.
Please pick up. ]
no subject
He hadn't been paying attention to the texts, too absorbed in what he saw. It's only when the phone actually rings does he get snapped out of it, and even then, he sounds distracted]
Hello?
no subject
[ There are no questions. He's not asking. ]
no subject
[...]
...Yeah. You should probably see this. I'm at [ADDRESS HERE. ITS IN THE TISSE AREA, near the Towers].
no subject
[ or ten or thirty or whatever. Ryoji trails off and hangs up; it takes about that much time to get there, idk what the scale of the city is. But when he reaches the door and knocks, it's not the sound of knuckles on wood. It's a heavier sound. He's come equipped with pot lids, one for Noah and one for himself, to shield their fingers from bitey little orb creatures. ]
no subject
[He hangs up as well. Lucky for Ryoji, he'll come answer the door when he knocks, raising an eyebrow when he sees the pot lids that Ryoji came]
Uh...the fuck's with the lids?
no subject
[ He can't say it's because Noah only has one arm left, but... it's because Noah only has one arm left. He pushes one of the lids at Noah's hands to take. ]
So, where is it?
no subject
[He points at Timcanpy, who is happily sitting on a couch pillow, wings pointed up as he curiously looks at the new person]
That thing? It's a recorder.
no subject
[ Because honestly, it doesn't look like either. He's intrigued enough to forget about the pot lid momentarily, leaning in close to look at the creature but with enough space to jump back before his nose gets bitten off, if it comes to it. ]
no subject
[Lucky for Ryoji, it's not really in a biting mood. Sure, it seems unsure about the potlid, but mostly it's just looking curiously up at Ryoji]
Ryoji- it has footage of my visions.
no subject
[ Ryoji's head turns fast and hard enough to hurt, and he winces as he brings a hand up to his neck. That. Doesn't make any sense to him at all. Is it a telepathy thing? The closest he can think of is the month prior, in which people's innermost secrets were being leaked, but reconstructed visions aren't something that can be learned. ]
Can you show me? If it's not too private...
no subject
[Because yeah, he still refuses to believe that him and this guy were the same person. He knew who he was- he was Noah. A couple of memories and a weird creature wasn't about to shake that belief.
But he comes over to sit on the couch before he speaks to the creature]
Hey, could you show me that video again? The one with the snow.
[The creature looks over at him, before it opens up its mouth wide in the air. And from his mouth, a holographic video starts to play. There's two people, a red head with an eye patch, and a white haired teenager that seems to have a bandage over his left eye. The second one looks a little like Noah in the face and eye, but the hair color is wrong, he has a scar, two arms, and he also looks a year younger than Noah.
It looks like the two are putting together snowmen as they talk]
So how old are you?
About 15 [when he speaks he sounds slightly like Noah but the accent is all wrong, and the voice younger]
Ah...I'm older. 18! 15 years old...'cause of that white hair you can't see any dandruff..
[The white hair kid seems to have an expression that says he's not all that fond of people pointing out his hair color]
Ah, you can call me Lavi, though there are some who call me "Junior". Can I call you Beansprout?
Ehhh?!? [The snowball Beansprout was holding onto breaks apart in his gloved hands as he looks horrified at Lavi. But right then, the video cuts out like the film was damaged.
The creature closes his mouth. There's a pause as Noah speaks up]
That's what I saw. Except, I saw it from that Beansprout guy's point of view.
no subject
Building snowmen together looks like fun... [ Oh, but that's not the important part, is it? ] I wonder why your vision is from Beansprout's point of view? He looks a lot like you, actually. Could he be a relative?
[ He squints over at Noah, trying to imagine him with white hair. It's hard, and he gives up, shaking his head with a little laugh. ]
no subject
He's Noah. He's no one else]
No idea. I don't know anything about my biological family.
no subject
[ It's not Noah as he knows him though, being shown in the clip, and that has Ryoji momentarily at a loss. There was never a mirror or other reflective surface around in Ryoji's visions to see whether it's really him; it felt like a dream, where there's a sense that it's you, but "you" could be any age or gender or occupation or anything. ]
...Could it be you've seen this video before, and that's what caused you to see a vision of it later? [ grasping for straws, but hear him out ] My memory from when I was younger isn't altogether there, but the parts I do remember are because my mother used to record videos of me. I can't really tell if my memories are my own experiences, or simply put together from what I've watched myself do.
[ Something like that? Except Noah's projecting himself into Beansprout's point of view. Maybe it's an old family video. ]
no subject
[The answer was immediate, and there was anger behind it- but not at Ryoji. His parents, whoever they were, abandoned him. Not just that, but left him in the worst situation possible. To Noah, they were better off dead.]
And no, it can't be. I saw this vision almost two weeks ago, before I even knew this video existed. And I know I've never seen it before.
