You know, I was starting to feel a little left out of everyone else having strange hallucinations about things they never think they did, but then I received a photograph. The note stated it was me in the photo, but as you can tell, that's a little difficult to tell, and I've no idea who that girl is, either; it's not me as a child, that is for sure. More curious is the date says '1970' - that's before I was born. It didn't trigger any kind of hallucination either, so perhaps it was delivered to the wrong place? If it is someone else's, I would be happy to forward it to your address if necessary. Otherwise, I think it may be going in a box. It's kind of creepy.

It looks like a threat. Or a warning.

Retrospec is either telling you they're gonna do something to you, or that something else is going to. Which one is worse depends on how you look at it.

Have you considered photo restoration? It looks like the photo is in pretty rough shape but technology has gone a long way. It could help you glean more details about who owns this photos and who the two are.

A threat, huh? I guess that's the most ominous way to take the face being erased. I thought it was just a sign of wear, or someone smudged it while it was developing by touching it where they weren't supposed to.

What's most curious is the date of 1970. Is someone planning on traveling back through time to wipe my face out before I was even born?

Perhaps, but the damage looks like it's on the picture itself - this is an actual photo and not like a photocopy. Like it got smudged in development or something? It may be worth looking into to see who the girl might be, or where it's at, though. It almost looks like some kind of old, overgrown manor with what looks like vines on the windows in the background?

... Except I get the most ominous feeling looking at it, and I'm not sure why.

This is going to sound nuts but I've become weirdly convinced I was born earlier than I actually was.

But it's not enough to span decades, just a few years off, I don't know about your case.

I got an item recently and it didn't trigger a hallucination either. not very helpful, i know, but i thought i'd throw that out there.

that said: super creepy. was it that damaged when you received it?

Well, it's not quite ten years, but it's definitely before my mother would have even been pregnant with me.

But I'm old enough as it is, I don't think I particularly want to end up older than that!

I haven't had anything trigger a hallucination yet, in fact. I'm starting to think I never will have one.

But yes, it was this damaged when I first got it. It's not just old, either, it almost looks like it's the actual print film or the negative of the photograph was damaged and it developed this way.

i tried to run the image through one of those websites that adds years to a person's face, to see how the girl would look in 2017 and maybe you could find them
but it didn't turn out quite right :(
the only face it could find was a tree branch in the background.....
maybe you'll have better luck scanning in a higher quality photo?

It seems to be a thing with people whenever they get something that seems innocuous. Though to be fair with its condition and the circumstances, this photo does seem more unsettling than most things I've seen others receive.

I had the same feeling about an item, truth be told. A feeling of bittersweet nostalgia whenever I looked at it. Then I had a vision related to the thing. Maybe the same thing could happen to you, somehow?

It looks like maybe there was a flaw in the camera that took the photo?

That is the only reason I can think of for it to turn out this damaged.

It is quite unsettling though. Perhaps it would be for the best to put it somewhere safe. It looks like something you would find in a horror novel.

Even if the hallucination(?) of what zodiac animal I had was there, I didn't look physically older along with it so there is that.

That would be frightening though wouldn't it? After everything that's already happening, physically aging abruptly too.

Who cares what year it is, they probably just fished some random photo out of a box at some creepy junk shop and decided to use that to send you the message.

I suppose that's not impossible. Without a face, it's almost impossible to tell who the woman is; she has my general build and hair style, but that's not terribly difficult to accomplish.

I do still sort of wonder who the young girl was. With as old as the picture is, even if 1970 isn't the right date, she should be an adult by now, I'd imagine. It looks that old.

Anyway, I suppose this means I should keep an eye out for threats to my person?

Me as well. I've been noticing the posts people make, even if I don't have the time to respond to them all. I wonder if it's some sort of omen, though I wonder what a smudged face could mean.

Or if it's just a mean-spirited prank, I suppose. RetroSpec hasn't particularly shown to be entirely mature in their ideas.

Well that's odd. If you were born under another animal and didn't age? I suppose people don't change too terribly much in just a few years, so there's a chance you looked the same because of that but...

I don't know. I think I'd look a little different if I was rounding in on 50. At least I'd have more gray hair if not more wrinkles.

And that's what makes me feel the most unsettled...

It's not like damage to the picture after it was developed. It was either a problem with the camera, or something that happened in development.

... Ah, I see the profanity 'filter' caught you, too. It is rather haunted looking, isn't it? The vines on the windows seem really ominous.

Well, if I ever needed to find out how the wall looks twenty years later, I think I have a good base image.

But perhaps. I resized it a little so it wasn't huge on everyone's screens when they bring up the post, but it's a normal 4x6 photo otherwise. I guess I could get the un-resized version and send it about.

... Or I could just put it in a box until later. Now that this post's up, maybe someone will recognize her later?

This is troubling. I don't want to sleep fearing I look way different overnight.

Hm, I thought perhaps the negative became damaged or something about the photo paper, but... I suppose it's anyone's guess as to what happened, but I do know it seems to be badly damaged there and you can't really reverse it.

And it is rather horror-movie-esque I think. I really am considering maybe leaving this post here in case someone recognizes the girl and just... tucking it away somewhere safe. In a closet or something.

i feel like somebody would recognize her. especially if they're close, ten years without seeing somebody and they can still be immediately recognizable

That's... interesting to think of. Yes, I don't think I'd much like waking up looking noticeably older. [Luckily for her, that would never happen anyway!

But lack of sleep can lead to delirium and psychotic episodes, so unfortunately, it's necessary.

Life goes on, and it sounds nicer and nicer to not have Retrospec exist.

It should really go in a box. And then you should burn the box. (._.)
