Behold: I enclose a sketch of a mysterious stranger, one whom I theorize is of great import to you all, my compatriots! I have been having recurring dreams of this man, a man whomst I have never met, and always the scenario repeats like old clockwork: I, Ranko Kanzaki, shadowed against the sunset, being apparently threatened by this demonic messenger! There the dream ends...but my memories do not.
Could it be that this is the 'Jim' we seek? And, if so, the reason why he is constantly rebuffed by Janet could not be clearer: observe those eyes, their harsh and pitiless gaze. No wonder he is left with no option other than bewitching this fair city's fruit.
I digress, however. To any other humble servant of Retrospec's divine whims - how do I get these dreams to leave me in peace? At least for now. I need to fully replenish my artes before a certain grand performance this week.
Thank you in advance! Or rather, my deepest regards.
[ ooc note: obviously, assume that ranko's sketch is a realistic scary guy, not...an anime-style scary guy... ]
That depends on who did the programming; I have been known to make some very elegant NPCs for my games. Maybe it's someone who knows how to craft someone as lovely as you.
[Don't mind him airing out a little of his ego here. It's also almost automatic at how he drops a little flirt as well.]
I was thinking that Retrospec might be an alien technology, though I can't overlook that possibility as well. After all, we don't know what was common during the dawn of time. It could even be both, a strange mix of ancient and alien as some scholars like to focus on while looking at ancient tombs.
Well! I'd like to think I would be a particularly memorable NPC, at the very least. *chuckles* [ Or a difficult boss battle! He'll get Ranko carried away if he keeps talking like that. ]
A medley of magick and science...'tis possible! For all we know, perhaps it is us - the Chosen of Retrospec - who are the true 'aliens' in this scenario! Or, indeed, the true ancient ones, entombed by a world that binds us to the dark... [ Aaaand she's off. ]
You do sound like one of the more mysterious NPCs we have; maybe the Grand Lady of the Manor level. She was beautiful work, I do say so myself.
[To no surprise of anyone, Yoon-sung will not stop unless he is smacked by someone.]
Yes, that would explain why there is only a certain selection of us around. And also why those who were once part of this were 'reworked' as they were found and pulled back into the system as normal people that do not recall our awakenings.
A mysterious lady trapped in an ivy-enclosed mansion...ohoho, that does sound very much like my shadowed self. I am deaf to the outside world's cacophonous events, except through an occasional sojourn into technological scroll-writing. [ Translation: she's practically an internet addict. ]
I was not aware of the latter half of what you mention, however. Are our enemies truly so cunning as to hex the Chosen back into their fold?
She uses a magical quill and parchment fetched from the skins of shadowy monsters, but very similar in design otherwise.
I'm not sure, but from what I had found while searching for more like us, there seems to be a forgetfulness in those that lost connection through this portal. Maybe it is a mixture of both?
How grand! How does she come by such wonderful relics?
It appears that this fiendish application is the source of it all. I'd cease using it entirely, if it didn't happen to offer a way to easily communicate with the Chosen souls who actually seem perturbed by recent events. We are all bound by the red string of fate...
One of the quests the player character has to go through is to gather the ingredients for her so she may communicate with the player as well as shape the dungeon she commands. The more she is given, the better she awards the player at the end of her level.
Is it, or is it the catalyst that forces the true source to awaken in each of us? I doubt that the application would let us stop using it; it seems like a determined sprite the moment we put it down.
This game intrigues me. Is it available for purchase? I can pay a respectable sum of coin.
Perhaps it is not that we are bound to each other, but rather to the application itself. What a morbid thought! There is powerful magic behind this, I just know it.

That it is but I think of it this way: through this we are meeting such interesting people.

I quite agree. And having the chance to explore new forms of media, at that.

Yes, it does give us that skill as well.
