I hope the cat has your attention. Good afternoon, everyone! I hope this weekend has been treating you well. I'm here to announce something very, very special (and exciting) for our furry friends at the Recollé Animal Shelter. On Saturday, April 22nd @ 5pm I will be hosting the Black Ties & Tails Charity Fundraiser, with all the money and donations going straight to the shelter. It will be a formal dance event held at the convention center. You'll need at least a five dollar donation or a can of pet food to get in. You can dress as fancy as you want, but you have to at least dress up a little! The theme is animals, so if you'd like to add ears or a tail to your outfit you are absolutely allowed to. For people who can't really afford to be glamorous, I have you covered. I'll be getting together with the boutique owners of the area and outfitting people before the event. Just make sure you come two hours early so that we can do your hair and makeup and get you dressed. The venue is essentially a giant ballroom for dancing and food with some tables on the side. There will be shelter staff on hand to process applications and answer questions as well as show off some of the dogs and cats that are available for adoption. You're encouraged to bring your own pet as long as they're leashed and friendly. I'd like some help, too! If you don't mind volunteering or you just want to get in for free, I need lots of hands to make this thing happen. This is a great opportunity for musicians to get exposure, for example. 20 minutes is perfect! I'll have a DJ filling in between performances, but obviously live music is better.

Is there anything you need me to prepare ahead of time?

just a piano... any kind of piano is fine.

Of course.

You can bring sheet music or improvise. Don't worry about making mistakes. Despite the formal wear it's going to be fairly laid-back and cheerful! Or at least, that's what I'm going to aim for.

I've attended far too many parties where people barely blink. This is supposed to be fun.

I've attended these events before, but I don't usually have the chance to plan them. And really, I'm excited about meeting all the puppies...
