backdated to 4/12, welcome to ultimate nerd hell

James Barnes shared a photo.
April 12 near Recolle

There's got to be at least one comics nerd on here. Someone explain to me what all these old comics are supposed to be, and why they all have me in them.

And before you say "just google it," I did and I couldn't find anything. I have no idea where Retrospec dug these up from.

Also, I've got one free ticket to the shooting range I'm willing to share. The only catch is you have to be 18+ and willing to take me too. Let me know if you're interested.

((To view the comics in larger size/more detail, click here. There was no way i was gonna manage to embed that in a DW post. EDIT: also i added a bit to this post at 4/17 11:38 EST because I was a dumbass who forgot to include it originally, sorry for any possible confusion! ))

Kind of looks like old WWII propaganda stuff, I guess

Didn't know you were into getting tied up and saved by patriotic stereotypes

I've never seen nor heard of these titles before. And the fact that nothing comes up on the internet about them is strange too.

But what I can say is that they're obviously dated. Probably original copies. They'd probably be worth a lot by now.

[At least they would if they were authentic. But he can't even dig up any sign that they exist aside from the photo.]

Are the comics in good enough condition that you can read the credits?

Like who the writers and the colorists and the letterers are? What was the publishing company behind these issues? Those could be possible leads.

There is an entire industry dedicated to vanity comics out there, but given everything that's happened recently, I'm not sure I'd take that for granted in this situation.

If you don't have anybody else, I can accompany you at the range. I'm not the most consistent shot, but I can show you the basics.

[OOC: If someone else has dibs on that thread, don't feel bad about turning him down.]

Now, you are being sent comic books, with your likeness in them? People punching through concrete and now now this? They truly wish us to think we are some sort of comic book heroes, don't they?

Maybe it isn't you and you're just projecting.

Like those books parents can get for their kids where the author uses their name and appearance? Only less kid-friendly, I guess.
