Uh, hey. I'm Terra. You might know me from Club Sunshine, or ReVA or...somewhere else. The University? I don't think a ton of people on here are taking American History courses.
Anyway, I wanted to remind everyone that it's Memorial Day weekend, and while sales and barbecues are plenty fun, not to forget the sacrifice that many have made in the name of our country, regardless of your political beliefs or ideology. Remember what this really is all about.
Sorry if this is too "real" but, you know...It's important. Even in a time like this.
In light of this, I managed to get my overlords at ReVA to approve a donation drive led by yours truly this Sunday and Monday. A clothes drive to be more specific, going towards impoverished and/or disabled veterans. We'll take most household goods too, to be honest--the various veteran foundations we're working with can find a use for just about anything. I thought it would be helpful to keep it kind of narrow, though, so anything warm that you don't need is greatly appreciated. More formal, business-type attire is also extremely helpful.
We'll also be accepting any cash donations you're willing to make to the cause. If you're not looking to give something for nothing, we will be selling cookies, lemonade, and other snacks for those of you hanging around town this weekend. If you're going to be taking advantage of the sales, why not stop by and give back?
Look for us in front of the ReVA offices. If you're interested in helping out or donating, give me a shout.
Thanks for listening. This is my first ReVA operation I'm leading by myself so...It's kind of a big deal to me, to the point where I'm typing with proper grammar and syntax (I think?). If you could help me make this a success, and help out some people who need it, I'd be super grateful!

ill see if i can get some cans to donate
i dont think teenager clothes would be really helpful lol

i know its a shock to find out im not actually a heartless piece of trash, but there u go
no subject
just an annoying piece of trash
but also if youre doing stuff like this then i guess youre not trash at all
no subject
im a good, dependable adult that kids like you can depend on
unlike most adults
no subject
also what do you mean??? unlike most adults???
no subject
when i was younger, i didnt have any adults i could trust with my problems or my secrets, so if you ever need somebody to go to when youre in trouble
just saying
he's actually considering taking terra up on that, too
well thank you
i appreciate it

ill toss a free cookie your way if you end up coming by this weekend

im not relying on your cousin's baking this time around so i cant afford to let you eat everything
no subject
i would only eat half maybe
no subject
where are you getting the snacks, btw, am I being put on baking duty for this?
no subject
i'm taking care of this one by myself, for once
i've got connections in the snack and confectionery industry too, you know
i'll be picking them up tonight and tomorrow morning
no subject
aww I'm so proud of you (´▽`ʃƪ)
but still if you need any help let me know
no subject
plus the second i let you near this operation the higher ups will be all
"oh arisato what a GREAT JOB you did LEADING this donation drive you always do such great work"
"no it was terras idea he was in charge of everything"
"yes you're very good at delegating your subordinates ms arisato"
no subject
and since when has anyone in a company ever called a coworker a subordinate in this day and age
no subject
and you do stick your nose into everything
but in a good way, a helpful way
like, your nose is always welcome
well
except this time
this time its just going to be me and my nose

I'm still gonna stop by though ┐(・꒳・┐) ♪

Good to see civilians organizing events and remembering what Memorial Day is really about.
no subject
i'm glad that there are some good, like minded folks on here, too.
no subject
But either way vets deserve support year round anyway. And I'm lucky I don't have to deal with seeing a lot of that 'memorial day sale' junk often. Everyone has a lot of respect for those holidays on base.
no subject
On base? you in service?
no subject
My dad. I'm an army brat.
no subject
damn dude, that must be a tough life tho. how old, bro?
no subject
Me? I'm 16. But he's been in the army since before I was born.
no subject
so much for asking you to get a drink with me
no subject
no subject
ill make you a fantastic kiddie cocktail if ever presented the opportunity though
no subject
no subject
i do have a surplus of socks that i can donate at least. :|a
no subject
if you have some spares those would be super helpful to us, dude
no subject
still, it's kind of sobering to think that we celebrate deceased soldiers who fought for our country by pigging out on grilled meat. or it might just be the budding summer heat killing me.
no subject
it becomes more about taking off work, going shopping, etc. than the reason you had work off in the first place...
im not really one for a righteous crusade or anything, but i think spreading more awareness through drives like this is a good thing for society
no subject
still, didn't know you're part of a volunteer organization, that's p cool.
no subject
but yeah, i spend a ton of time working for ReVA, its kind of my only hobby, if you can even call it that
makes me feel like im not totally a piece of garbage
no subject
and i think that working as a volunteer is the basics for being a hero, albeit a really mundane one! (•̀o•́)ง
no subject
...but yeah, i like making people smile, i like seeing people happy
seriously though, im not a hero though
i barely know you and i can bet you a cool sawbuck youre more of a hero than i am
no subject
the only thing i do is just work on engineering project with barely any social life man.
no subject
engineering is kinda heroic, if you think about it in the grand scheme of society
no subject
but hey. at least you're helping people directly. that should count for some good karma at least.

i mean as long as you have her permission, grab everything you can
usually during clothes drives, we get way more mens stuff than womens so
no subject
how long are you guys operating for today? i've got some stuff to take care of first.
no subject
we usually pack it up at about 8, but we'll be here through monday, so no worries
no subject
sounds good. i'll drop by before you're done today. my name's rin, by the way. nice to meet you.
