POST ✦ LIKE IN AN OLD FASHIONED NOVEL
Hello! I'm Ainsley.
I was hoping to ask for some help in some things right now. It would mean a lot to me if I could have a moment of your time.
First thing is that I was wondering if there's anyone who has knowledge re: occult and cults and things like that. It's because I learned that I may have been part of a cult due to the strange titles they were using in a meeting in my memory. It's a long shot but it felt like to me that they were very important so there has to be some evidence of them being here. Right?
Anyways these were what the titles that were being used in my memory. They must have some meaning behind them.
[ she starts to list them off in her post: the moon, the magician, the tower, and so on. for some it'll soon become obvious that she's listing off titles that belong to the major arcana of tarot cards. really. ]
The second thing is that I need help in translating letters I got last month. Strange, I know, but this is not as threatening compared to the last thing they gave me so I suppose that's a step up.
A lot of them are in languages I don't know all that well. Like Japanese and French and the like. If anyone can help me out with this, I would be very grateful and be willing to pay you for your time in this. I should warn you though that a lot of the text seems to be missing from the letters so I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense.
Thank you for reading this! And for any possible help along the way too.

[ what.
well at least she sends the photos as promised and... ainsley wait.
ainsley no.
that's icelandic, not swedish. you're mixing up your languages again. why. ]

[But really kind of exciting! It's like magic, oh man, she can't believe she gets to help out on something weird like this.
She gets the photo and is confronted with a whole mess of þs and ðs, and immediately feels disappointed that she can't actually contribute here.] I'm sorry, I think that's Icelandic. I don't think I'll be able to help.
[Though, hey, on second thought, she can make out a bit of it... She fires off a quick second message as she starts bringing the pictures up on her computer to look more closely.]
Actually I understand a lot of the words here! I guess there's more similarities than I was expecting. Hold on, I'll see what I can get!

That's great to hear! Take your time in translating it, I promise to be patient.
[ the translated results are the following:
the fluency. the writing is in a man’s hand and only in a man’s handwriting. there were references that someone was replying to him at least - ‘i think it’ll be fine’, ‘and i take offence to your last remark in your letter’ - so maybe the reply letters just weren't found in time...? (tellingly, he mentions in some passages that she should also try to learn how to write in the language, teasing her in affection manner that hints they were a married couple or something to that effect.)
these letters seem to be an intimate ones, full of banter and warmth from one party's side. he spends much of the letter asking how his wife is, if her health is well, and how she and their daughter is well. at one point he sends a letter that's essentially a letter full of dad puns and jokes and the next letter in chronological order is him asking her why she just sent a letter that only had the word 'no' written on it.
(there's also the fact that the daughter's name never comes up in the letters. parts where it should come - 'i think a break from work will do wonders for you, ___, and i' - are left strangely blank.) ]

Anyway! All of these letters are only from one person-- he (I'm assuming it's he based on the handwriting) was definitely writing to someone and getting responses back from her (I think they're married) but I don't see any of her replies. She might not be able to write in Icelandic? That's just a guess though, at one point he tells her she should learn it. For the record, Icelandic still uses these letters: þ, Þ, ð, Ð, so if you see any of those in additional papers, you can send them to me!
They're really cute letters, by the way. He cares about her and asks about her and their daughter a lot-- oh, but the daughter's name is missing. There are points where I think he's mentioning the daughter based on the context, but there's a blank wherever her name would go. Oh, also, there was an entire letter full of bad puns and jokes (they're hard to translate but think dad jokes) and his next letter just said something like "why did you only write back with 'no'," hahaha. There are also references to some of the titles that you mentioned earlier!

she wasn't expecting these results. ainsley had prepared for the worst since the letters were either ominous or foreshadowed tragedy down the line. so when she opens the message and takes her time pouring through every detail, she's left a little speechless.
and happy...?
no, more like relieved. it makes her smile, a little touched to see a slice of that domestic life the two must have had before... you know... things fell apart. they sounded so happy from what she's reading here. it hurt to read and know what happened to them down the line but when she reached the end of the message, she couldn't help but laugh because for some reason she thinks of course augustus would ask that. ]
This is amazing! Thank you for translating all of that so far. I'll try to find more letters for you to go through. [ the mention of the sudden fluency doesn't go unnoticed by her too. was it like the case of anya's sudden ability to understand russian...? when she has the time, she'll ask if that'll be fine with them. ] Can I ask for what the context the titles come up? And when you mean 'titles' you mean things like the Magician or the Star and the like, right?

[...not that Ainsley cares about her language nerdery right now, moving on.]
Anyway, a lot of it is missing, sorry! But they show up a lot when he's talking about issues with the Minor Arcana.

I had thought for a while now that the Sun and the Moon were a couple but from what I know of them, they never seemed all that happy.
So learning about this is useful and a big relief too. Along with the Minor Arcana information. Others are speculating that maybe the Minor are the normal folks of where the Major Arcana live? That could explain the concerns they keep talking about?
no subject
As far as the Minor/Major arcana are concerned, I could see that! Or rather I don't see anything to contradict it. Unfortunately I can't figure out much about what the concerns actually... were, sorry. [She's going to keep saying sorry until her dying day, this is a lost cause.] But please let me know if you see more and I will definitely try to help!
Oh, but do the names "Martus" or "Aegis Garder" (or Ægis Garder? Icelandic is weird) sound familiar? They pop up sometimes too, if that helps.
