RIP Izunia-san's Loyal Scarf. Sacrificed itself in a blaze of glory to save its master. A hero's funeral will take place tonight at 7PM at Ardyn Izunia's house. Please RVSP if you would like to attend. Dress code requirements: one loyal scarf. Please always cherish your scarves. You never know when one day they will just catch on fire and exit your lives forever. Love them and treasure them forever.

Are you always so formal with your relatives?

It's your business, of course. I've just never encountered it before; I wasn't sure if it was a cultural thing or a personal thing.

Is that so?

I suppose it's a bit of both for myself. My mother was always very strict about it. Izunia-san always tells me to be more casual with him, but it's hard to do. He's still my uncle and an adult.

[ Haha, Souji was raised to be very proper and reserved, especially after the divorce. This is why he's trying to be more like himself and be silly while he's living in Recolle with his brother, away from their parents. ]

I was going to say: I can't imagine Ardyn insisting on a title. But I suppose there's nothing wrong with being respectful. Do you prefer being called by your last name, then?

I don't mind either way, but I suppose if I did have to choose, then my first name. Being called Narukami in a crowd can get very confusing very fast if I'm with my twin.

Mr. Souji, then. You're not the only one fond of formality, and I hesitate to be so casual to someone I suspect is half my age.

But isn't it normally the other way around? To hesitate to be casual with someone older?

Sometimes. But to be casual with someone so younger suggests a familiarity I'm not comfortable with. I'd prefer formality at all times.
