hey, it's alison. long time reader, first time poster, etc.
everyone else gets pointy teeth and anime hair, and all i get is this rudimentary bow and arrow set. in the back seat of my car. i feel cheated and uneasy.
things of note:
the construction's solid if old-fashioned. ancient almost. looks like it's been through a lot of hunting or combat. well-cared for. it's been restringed recently. funny: the bowstring's stronger than any modern-day bow i've ever held. tbf, last time i tried to shoot a bow and arrow was in summer camp, and that was a disaster. i couldn't hit the broad side of a barn...
the metal pieces are strong too.
same metal pieces have been shaped for the arrow heads. dried blood still on one of those. spooky. weird thing about the design. the metal's been shaped and painted(?) in a way to resemble animal bone. does that make sense? as if it was deliberate. they don't match with the construction of the thing, but i don't know why.
just a feeling.
has anyone ever seen these symbols? did anyone else get some ancient weapon, or did i luck out?

Weird, it looks like it was made in a cave out of scraps.
How can it look so old but be made out of modern metals? Is it a museum piece or something?

a little bit. a lot of care was put into the construction, nonetheless. at least from what i've seen looking over it.
i don't know. it's meant to be functional, so it isn't just a display piece. that's all i've got so far.

I don't know the first thing about bows, so you'd probably know better than me.
What are you going to do with it?

no idea. the running vote seems to be "use it,"
so i may give that a try and hope it gives me something other than muscle strain.

that's right. i don't. the last time i used a bow and arrow was in summer camp, and i was so far off the mark the damn arrow nearly ended up in space.
but
apparently using this bow may have different results, according to some of the others. suppose it's different if it's from our least favorite shadowy organization.

Ugh, you're probably right, and I hate that.
Wherever they're getting this stuff, it feels weirdly natural to have them.
Like they've always been there.
Creepy.

Yes, just this week actually.
It's a tiara, which is something I'd never want to own.
But I know it's mine.

being a princess doesn't sound...terrible.
but better you than me. i'd never be able to pull off the fluffy dresses and singing.

Fluffy dresses and singing are already my life.
But I've had enough people call me "princess" to last a lifetime.
And not in the endearing way.

in that case, it sounds like a tiara that doubles as a dangerous weapon would work in your favor.

God, I can see the lawsuits from here.
And I'd rather not destroy my reputation to become someone who attacks their critics.

I guess it's been a while since I was in the magazines.
There was a big to-do when I moved to Recollé, but not much since.

Better than some.
Not as good as it should be.

i was in denver for a while. must've missed all the excitement. how's this provincial life going for you? better or worse?

Well I flew halfway across the world and had to change my primary language so that people wouldn't look at me like I have three heads.
Thankfully I grew up with some American tutors so I don't really have an accent.
I'm also living in a three-bedroom apartment rather than my family's mansion, which took some getting used to.
But I'm out from under my father's shadow for at least the short-term, so it hasn't been all bad.

I try to be as transparent as I can be about my family's company.
Despite my father's protests.
People are going to find out about things anyway, so you may as well be open about it.
Damage prevention rather than control.

and a little independence is always a good thing. you seem grounded.

that's a smart approach. the more honest you are, the less you'll be taken by surprise.

German. I was born in Wilhelmshaven.
I'd say the blonde hair and blue eyes are a dead giveaway, but we don't exactly have blue anymore.
And I agree, the independence is refreshing but it's taken a lot of getting used to.

I think it's smart as well, but my father doesn't always agree.
But he's in charge and I can't do anything but offer suggestions.
Which are usually ignored because I'm a clueless little girl who doesn't understand the real world.
