retrospec | (no subject)

hey, it's alison. long time reader, first time poster, etc.
everyone else gets pointy teeth and anime hair, and all i get is this rudimentary bow and arrow set. in the back seat of my car. i feel cheated and uneasy.
things of note:
the construction's solid if old-fashioned. ancient almost. looks like it's been through a lot of hunting or combat. well-cared for. it's been restringed recently. funny: the bowstring's stronger than any modern-day bow i've ever held. tbf, last time i tried to shoot a bow and arrow was in summer camp, and that was a disaster. i couldn't hit the broad side of a barn...
the metal pieces are strong too.
same metal pieces have been shaped for the arrow heads. dried blood still on one of those. spooky. weird thing about the design. the metal's been shaped and painted(?) in a way to resemble animal bone. does that make sense? as if it was deliberate. they don't match with the construction of the thing, but i don't know why.
just a feeling.
has anyone ever seen these symbols? did anyone else get some ancient weapon, or did i luck out?

But we own over a hundred factories across the globe, it doesn't exactly happen overnight.

I'm a Business Administration major, but I doubt that's surprising.

i do, actually. i started with robotics engineering, so it's been a big change. but working in nature suits me better.

Now that's a jump. Robots to nature. They're practically opposites.
BA is interesting enough, but it's also stuffy and boring.
But I kind of expected it to be.
I don't think it's going to get exciting until I go for my MBA.

my mom was a roboticist. she'd been looking into powering them via green energy, but i haven't figured it out yet. they're not as distant from one another as you'd think.
if we can power the technology of tomorrow with what we learn from green energy today, then our chances of survival — and that of our planet, go up.
but i'll get off my soapbox. suffice to say that i'm passionate about it.

i'll admit that business admin isn't something i know much about. i can see the merits in it, though. you'll have a lot of power to do good.

The world needs more passionate people.
There's too many people that live life just going through the motions.
I'll admit I know very little about green energy, outside of things like solar panels and wind farms.
But I wouldn't be opposed to learning.

And Admin work is very important.
We're the ones who keep the passionate people from spinning themselves in circles. ;)

Also I'm sorry, I can't help but notice the "was".
Is your mother retired now? [Or... you know.]

there's a lot more that goes into it. since i've spent a lot of time with forest conservation efforts, i've done some preliminary research into utilizing biomass fuel in more efficient ways. it takes a lot of time and

i should stop before i start rambling. i could teach you more, though i'm still learning myself.

i came to terms with being a nerd when colleges were begging me to come to their schools.
besides, i work out, so no one can tell unless they make the mistake of asking me about global warming.

Though I think colleges were begging me for more than just my grades.
And I try to spend time in the gym too.
Though I'm probably not there as much as I should be.

i don't usually do gyms, myself.
i've run a marathon before.
and done a lot of hiking. rafting.
outdoor stuff. my job and school don't always leave me time for it these days. but i still enjoy it.

Makes sense. You're so active that you don't need it.
What do you do for work?

something like that, yeah.
i work for the fish and wildlife services. keeping tabs on changes in plant life,
animal tracking, tagging. lots of research and notes.

Wasting no time getting into your career, I like that.
It sounds exhausting, but also really rewarding.

no rest for the wicked. or future graduate students. i'm trying to get in as much practical knowledge as i can.
it is rewarding. calling it the majesty of nature sounds pretentious, but that's really the best way to describe it.
