Hello Users,

For those of you who are new: Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. We encourage you to explore our many options.

For all, new and old: Please be advised that should you go above and beyond the call of duty for Mr. Halloway's little game in the coming days, there may be a reward granted or information given. 100% completion would be the goal for that, should you have an interest. If you have no interest in the matter, please feel free to carry on as usual.

R&D will not be handling further communiques for this month, or possibly the next few months. This should not, of course, have any impact on your usage of Retrospec™.

The first milestone for the second of the colors lost has been met, and accordingly we have diverted resources to fix what could be fixed. R&D has alerted me that a bigger loss may occur in the near future, and I would advise you to be careful, though I am afraid neither they nor I can be much more detailed than that.

Finally, I would like to extend congratulations to those of you who have now reached your sixth month. We hope you will continue to accept our assistance in these trying times.

Thank you for your patience,

Janet Wiseman

Retrspec Incorporated

As of this post green fruits and flowers of this color regain their pigment. (Note: this is not all plants. This is just for flowers and fruits!)

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Any new characters will find that the first photo they upload is locked as their profile picture for the rest of the month. Characters who have been in game since February will find their profiles now have a 6 months badge. It does absolutely nothing of note.

It's possible for a sufficiently skilled and prepared person to manage that. But I'd rather not be such an attractive prospect.

[ It's ok Kaz is way more stubborn over text than irl, he's just sticking around for the differing perspective now... ]

I'd want to try at least, even if it's supposed to be impossible.

I am actually having to sit on that one for a minute. As in, why isn't everything that we are seeing true? That it's entirely differently worlds based on objective criteria.

One friend of mine sees magic, I see spider tanks, another friend sees a feudal samurai battlefield. We're all correct.

So then, if we take all those objective perspectives and slap them on top of each other? We get the simulation Retrospec has created for us. The middle ground of it all. But that would also make sense as to why things change.

After all, people started remembering the chocobos from their pasts.

This. Has more ground to it than you might think.

I thank you for informing me of this. It's definitely something to keep in mind.

No reason, I'm just surprised we have a connection.

I wouldn't say I'm friends with Lailah, exactly, but I know her.

If not for the extremely varied settings we're remembering, I would argue that there's no evidence against the theory whatsoever.
The idea that this is a simulation and we're recalling our past lives fits almost too well.
standalonehuman: (TogusaRealization)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-07-16 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Our past lives, or our real lives, though?

If this is a simulation, they got us into it from somewhere. We change as we remember more because we're remembering what's real?

I. I don't like this. I'd need more positive proof before I'd act on it.

But damn it, I can't figure out how to prove it wrong, either.
truedetective: (01)

[personal profile] truedetective 2017-07-16 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the question is a difference of semantics.
We existed as individuals outside the simulation. We had lives of our own.
This version of us was constructed largely along those lives.
Either unintentionally or intentionally, we're recalling them.

Of course, that brings up a question of philosophy: Does that make our life here somehow *not* real?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalkDown)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-07-16 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Simulation or not, I'm going to keep arguing for what I have been all along: that our choices and actions here matter more than the things we've been shown and remembered.

It's that philosophical idea of intent versus action, action wins out every time. Even if this world is a simulation, it's the background that we are using to interact with each other. Can't affect the world, but we can affect the other people in it. So your actions are more important. And if this world isn't a simulation, then acting like our actions don't matter in it is the fast track to madness. So, again, actions are more important, and treating this world as real is our best option.

[personal profile] truedetective 2017-07-16 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's increasingly more likely that this is a simulation, or some other artificial reality created using our "real" lives as templates.

But even with that in mind, I agree that our lives and relationships here shouldn't be discarded.

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-07-16 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you chatted with Yoon-sung Lee? You two should really talk. Your theories are exceptionally close to one another.

The more evidence I see, the less I think this person Retrosepc is trying to get me to remember was a good person. That's not going to stop me from continuing to do my job and serve the law here.

You've got a point there.

Especially with the people who can see this app.

[personal profile] truedetective 2017-07-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't, no.

If I may ask
What makes you think that?
standalonehuman: (TogusaRegret)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-07-16 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Going back through the logic steps that have led to Togusa's paranoia about his memories are difficult, for a moment. Were does he get this from?]

I remembered an officer I was working with, at first I didn't realize it was a memory from somewhere else. All signs point to his death being my fault. Or, the other Togusa's fault. I was also one of the first to get sent a weapon by Retrospec, something highly customized.

Maybe it's stupid, I know I was keeping a closer watch on those people who had been sent weapons, and I am among that list.
