That's perfectly understandable. And you say someone was telling you that because you favor novels, you can't possibly understand what it's like to be a poet?

That guy seems like kind of a dick.

Was his opinion very important to you, do you recall?

I remember telling him how much admired his writing, and trying not to argue with him. I even agreed with him about the heart a poet thing. So... probably.

He was more established than me as a writer and also kind of terrifying?

Terrifying how?

He was drunk, loud, and violent. Maybe it would be more accurate to say that I was terrified.

So you agreed because you had little choice to do otherwise.

Right. I couldn't just tell him he was full of it.
