hey, for the record we aren't keeping records on you through your electronics. they're useful tools sometimes but they're not required. mr. halloway wanted you (the people meeting at the utsuki dojos at 8pm on sundays) to know it's a nice effort but he still doesn't see any secret codes or handshakes so the meetings aren't spy-level enough to keep him happy yet. also he made me take notes on all of them. i don't really care about how spy-level they are, though. also the technicians managed to fix some things. Implanting people like that is too low for you. You'd never get your hands dirty like that.

[ He's at the school football field, currently taking a break from practice. ]

School. Practicing, are we?
no subject
Practicing what?
[ Surely she doesn't know he's on the football team. He never mentioned that to her, did he? ]

Seems real lazy to me.

Oh, well.
Rosalind is waiting in her lab, leaning her hips against one of her lab tables, her arms crossed lightly beneath her chest.]

Hey. So, what's the errand?
no subject
Indeed: she drops her arms as she comes forward, watching him carefully.]
It's for the bingo thread. I've need of an assistant. All you have to do is stand there, really. Still interested?

What're you gonna do while I stand around?

[And then she slaps him.
It isn't, to her credit, a very hard slap. It's more of a gentle smack than anything, a light cuff to his cheek that's over as soon as it's begun. But it happens, and really, James doesn't deserve this, he's a good kid, but oh, well, here they are on the other side of it, and Rosalind is smiling faintly, perfectly pleased with how easy that was.]
Thank you. Hold on a moment and I'll get you your money.

[ James nurses his cheek and stares at Rosalind in shock. It doesn't hurt much--hell, it barely stings--but it's more the shock that it happened at all.
At least he's getting paid for it. That helps, right? Not like he isn't still outraged. ]
What was that for?!

[She tugs her wallet out of her purse and adds over her shoulder:]
And for bingo purposes. It was a multi-purpose slap.

[Hey, it's thirty dollars, how about that. Consider that a five dollar tip. Go buy . . . whatever it is the youth enjoy. Milkshakes?]
no subject
Fine. But this doesn't make the slapping okay.
