mr. kaiyou asked about extra manpower. we can't really grant access to anyone other than we have now unless someone switches out, and i can't unlimit the people the doctor put on probation, but you can all consult with one another so long as you're in network areas although in some locations you may only be able to reach your actual team consultant if you were assigned one. or one another if you were not.

i'd advise you to maybe try not to get put on probation on here but i can't really stop you if you do. so i'll just say that this is still being monitored and none of you are actually required to work with us, so. please allow the people who are trying to the time to do so. i did warn mr. kaiyou it's a possibility.

Please be advised monsters from the Bestiary can still be found around town. The convention center is still wrecked as well! Other damage can be found around town such as broken windows, some destroyed buildings, etc. Strangely, the monsters were courteous and left people's homes alone (for the most part.) Please note: this mingle is for Group One and Group Three members. Those of Group Two are still missing and time is still moving normally. This means they have been gone for one week as of today.

Group One and Group Three members may continue to create their own posts and logs about the state of affairs, though this post is a good time to link up and discuss what's happening city-side.

The ONLY reason I'm going along with this is that Miss Wiseman (not the aforementioned Janet, there's two of them at least) said they would take the weapons and powers back after the Protocol. At least all these guns aren't going to end up on the street.

I'd only believe them for about two minutes concerning that but, well, I'm finding it hard to believe a lot of what is happening right now.

Just say 'other me'. That's what I have been doing these past few weeks. Saves on the confusion.

Yeah, but. This other guy has nothing to do with me. I'm standing by that idea, even though I know other people think there's a connection.

Hell, some people want there to be a connection. Falling into this big power fantasy, that they were somebody really special in another life. It's seductive, but dangerous.

If this keeps up, I keep the ability? I guess we'll find out if we survive this mess.

There has to be one for us to connect with these others through the hallucinomemories. Think about why they, out of all the possibilities, are the ones we're hooked into. There are probably a lot of differences between us and the others, but they are still connected. Maybe age, maybe name, maybe even looks. Something is connecting us. Otherwise we are just some random SOBs stuck on the information roadkill of this life.

It's not a power fantasy. Whatever those people were, their time ended and we're the remains. It's far from a powerful imagery and more of a warning of letting that power get to our heads.

I have to counterargue the power fantasy idea. We've already had one person go off the deep end and slice off somebody's fucking hands. Turned out the victim had gang affiliations, so if this doesn't scream revenge and power fantasy to me? I don't know what does.

I might be able to live with the reincarnation idea, though. If these people we're remembering are all dead. Why is that more comforting?

But was the person who committed the crime doing it over the fact that they could, or was it because a part of their mind thought it was how justice is served? There might not be that much of a difference to you, but to me there is one.

Because then you might not wake up being the person that you're remembering?

I guess that's another thing I'm going to have to ask if I ever find out who it was.

If you don't have the ability, I don't know, it just stays as a fantasy, you never act on it. But if you suddenly get the strength or power to go chop a guy up? That's one less thing standing in the way of you doing it.

But I don't think everybody would choose to, just because they have the power. I'm still against trying to track people who are getting powers from Retrospec. Not fair to everyone else.

I can understand that worry. Some people haven't gotten the necessary memories - or whatever you wish to call them - back that would temper their reactions. The filters that make them understand how to use and not use their new abilities. You know.

Other people may not be as socially correct too. I wonder about myself sometimes. From what I have gotten stuck in my head.

I don't think it should be done either. As long s they are responsible about it they need to be left alone to figure out what they are made up off.

Right! That! I just got this ability, what Retrospec slapped on to me, and it keeps going off every time I get too angry. I can finally start to figure out what everybody else is going through.

This was too deliberate and targeted, I can't just sweep it under the rug with that viewpoint, but I'd be willing to listen if it turned out there was a part of their abilities they couldn't control.

Thus. Yeah. Why it would be dumb to go after everyone.

At least I'm lucky to not have powers. Just some really good memories on how to react when attacked. They aren't much, so there's not going to be a power trip for me.

Unless they knew of each other before. Do you know who actually caused it at all?

I wasn't one of the officers on it. I might have a chance if I talk to Matsuoka. Because I also got in trouble when I tried to find the paperwork on it.

But it's hard to go up to a superior officer with "Hey, Detective, remember that guy you watched get his hands chopped off and barely saved the life of? Let's talk about THAT a whole lot."

Yeah, that isn't going to win you any cookie points with them.

The incident. It made one of the guys in the Department decide that this was all some kind of arms race. That if we're going to keep doing our jobs, protecting people, then we need to play the game, see what Retrospec has for us. It's a gamble, that he hopes there are some kind of powers waiting for him so that he'll be able to do his job better. And stop the people who are getting armed by Retrospec who go off the deep end.

I'm angry that he has a point. And I'm angry that it's going to take him losing his own sense of self to fulfill it.

Would it be too much to assume that this person might actually be assimilated into the hallucinomemories more then the rest of us? Because if his other was the kind of person who believes in arming up and racing to see what powers they will get, talking to them might not stop them at all.

There is a point there, but the problem is not letting the point cloud the rest of your judgement in the process.

We meaning the cops, that is. The rest of you might not notice a difference. That's the gamble that we're taking. These other memories Retrospec is shoving at us, those other people, we've got no guarantee that they were on this side of the law.

Things are only going to get worse if we start going rogue, too.

Again, you might not be alone in how to handle things if they get that bad. Some of us might actually turn out to be the kind that fights corruption while wearing capes or something, and using a position of power that way would be corruption, right?

Except that the comic book crap is completely illegal in the real world?

Hell, that's about to start up soon, too, isn't it? It would all depend on who's dumb enough to run around in a mask and funny outfit.
